Top 5 Favorite Food Hot-Spots on the Ocean City, Maryland Boardwalk

B.J. Rychener
I have lived in Ocean City, Maryland the last 10 years and over time I have come to know the area and what it has to offer quite well. Not only does Ocean City, Maryland have a beautiful beach that stretches the entire 145 blocks, it also has great lodging, entertainment, parks, and food!

And the best food is found along the 2.5 mile boardwalk that runs parallel to the shoreline up to 27th street. Some of my favorites include Thrasher's, Dumser's, Fisher's, Polock Johnny's and Candy Kitchen.

Being a year round resident I am hesitant to venture to the boardwalk between Memorial Day and Labor Day because I enjoy it much more when I don't have to battle crowds, and teenagers.

Anyway once a year I make a Boardwalk trip to make sure I get to sample all my favorite summer treats and I always take at least one friend so we can share. Because let's face it, of course all the Boardwalk food I want is full of fat and calories and I would have to walk the entire Boardwalk at least 5 or 6 times before I could burn it all off. But I justify it by saying that I only do it once a year; that, and I don't eat for at least a week after, ha-ha.

So here is my list of Ocean City, Maryland Boardwalk Food Favorites!

Thrasher's French Fries on Facebook - No trip to the Ocean City Boardwalk is complete without Thrasher's French Fries! These are the best fries on the Eastern Shore and the 45 min. wait is more than worth it when you are able to taste the steamy hot, salty, tangy (from the vinegar of course) Boardwalk Fry from heaven. They are located at the inlet end of the Ocean City Boardwalk, Beachside.

Dumser's Dairyland on Facebook - One of my favorite cooling off hot spots, Dumser's has all kinds of ice creamy treats. I tend to order their chocolate dipped mixed soft serve cone but I also like their plain strawberry double-dip. Dumser's has several locations along the boardwalk, including one at the inlet.

Polock Johnny's Chili Cheese Dog - A new find for me on this year's walk was Polock Johnny's on the end part of the Ocean City Boardwalk. Although they offer a variety of sausages and hot dogs, I tried the chili cheese dog and fell in love. It will definitely be a stop on my walk next summer.

Fisher's Popcorn (Fisher's Popcorn on Facebook) - Fisher's is a place that is a stop for many people who make the trip to Ocean City Maryland. I am partial to their caramel popcorn but they offer a variety of popcorn types to fit almost any taste bud. And they too have several locations along the boardwalk and offer to go containers full of their gourmet popcorns that make great souvenirs for friends and family back home.

Candy Kitchen (Candy Kitchen on Facebook) - Candy Kitchen is my absolute favorite place to stop on my Ocean City Boardwalk trek because I can get dark chocolate covered strawberries on a stick. These are worth the 20 minute trip down town alone and I can't remember a trip to the boardwalk that I didn't pick up a few of these, if only to carry home.

I hope you enjoy my favorite Ocean City Boardwalk treat stops; let me know if you find any favorite hot-spots of your own! And if you are heading to the Ocean City Boardwalk, you can plan your walk in advance using this on-line map from Ocean City Maryland Boardwalk.
