What are my top 5 favorite Halloween songs? Each time Halloween rolls around we search for songs to remind us of what it means to be a kid going "Trick or Treating" once again. There are timeless classics that make us grin as we try to provide some "spooky" moments for our neighbors, relatives, family and friends. If I had a Halloween playlist, these are songs I would certainly add for an entertaining night.
With that in mind, here are my 5 favorite Halloween songs(along with a YouTube link for a video.)
1) The Monster Mash
I can't imagine any Halloween without "The Monster Mash" song(or these days video).
There are many links to "The Monster Mash" videos on YouTube. This link will show "The Monster Mash" lyrics. For those searching for "The Monster Mash" lyrics this season, you won't be searching anymore if you watch this YouTube video. This Haloween favorite is probably the most well known Halloween song in any genre. "The Monster Mash" has stood the test of time and will carry on long after we are all six feet under(and appropriately buried with an R.I.P. Halloween type tombstone). It's a little spooky without being too scary. In other words, it's a favorite song without making us over the top scared.
2) Calling All The Monsters
Do you want something relatively and contemporary and new to add to your list of favorite Halloween songs? Check out this YouTube video and "Calling all the Monsters". The lyrics of this Halloween type song say "we're haunting you". Check out the song and video lyrics here. It's a little repetitive but I have this spooky feeling the kids will love it. Here is the actual video on YouTube from China Anne McClain. If you want something recent, "Calling All The Monsters" might just do the trick.
3) All You Zombies
This "Hooters" classic is always a top Halloween favorite song. Check out the video, even though it's a bit old these days, on Youtube here. At the time of release, this song was terrific for Halloween and played on boom boxes everywhere. It still stands as one of my favorites and a song I like to hear during the season--not so much during other parts of the year.
4) Thriller
How can you have a Halloween party without playing "Thriller" by Michael Jackson. This video was the biggest moment for videos perhaps ever when it made a fantastic debut on MTV. I can't imagine there are many more important or favorite Halloween songs out there besides "Thriller" and "The Monster Mash".
5) Werewolves of London
I don't want a Halloween to go by without hearing this Warren Zevon. If you don't think it's the scary type of song for late October, check out this YouTube video with "Werewolves of London" dressed up a bit with pictures and animations of werewolves. Warning: These might be a bit graphic and a tad scary for youngsters. Still, this Warren Zevon classic will serve as a favorite for years to come.
That's it for my favorite Halloween songs and videos on YouTube. We'll be cranking up the music as my two sons prepare for the Holiday this coming week. Have a safe, fun and entertaining Halloween everyone!
