Safe and Effective Antivirus Programs

J G Hodnette
Getting a free antivirus shield against dangerous viruses and programs on the internet is an essential step for your business. These programs can really cost you a lot, though. Instead of paying the big companies all of the money you don't yet have, consider getting one of these popular and completely free antivirus programs.

1. AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition

This useful program is considered the premier of free antivirus programs. It used to be offered as separate antispyware and antivirus but now its combined, which is nice. It now has a special feature that checks websites for you as you are searching on Google to keep you from opening up dangerous pages. It comes most highly recommended.

2. PC Tools Antivirus Free Edition

Similar to AVG but less popular, this free antivirus software comes from the creators of Spyware Doctor. It protects you computer with a firewall as well as destroying trojans, spyware, and viruses. The control panel looks a lot like AVG, but it doesn't quite have the listed number of viruses that AVG has.

3. Avast Home Edition

Download.com top ten for a long time now, this program has been popular for its simplicity and longevity. It will manually scan your computer when you run it, searching in depth for any problems. Unlike the others, however, it doesn't have many features.

4. Calmwin Antivirus Free Edition

One of the very first antivirus programs, this program is very well trusted. It has a huge database of viruses and so its detection rate is very high. It also has a feature that filters Microsoft Outlook emails so that is a plus for business owners. It's a small program and so it can run in the background without taking up so much memory that it is problematic. A good bit of software.

5. Avira Antivirus

Ranked 3 on downloads.com, this great program keeps an eye on every single action by your computer and acts quickly if it suspects something out of place. Because it is constantly scanning, it takes up more RAM than other antivirus programs, though it is extremely safe as well.

These are just five of the many free antivirus softwares out there. There is no real reason thanks to these great programs to ever want to buy antivirus software. So take a look at these instead and save yourself some money.

thanks for listing the top 5 antivirus programs. But i would like to mention it about something more in it. There are latest rogue programs launching everyday and if these antivirus programs are not up to date then you are in danger. Most of these latest parasites are so new that even most powerful and up to date antivirus programs can't find these. Once i had used ESET Smart Security but unfortunately the Antivirus Action get downloaded automatically when i was downloading a movie from a torrent site. It was uncurable and it was capable to stop the antivirus programs as well. I found a site http://www.windows7errors.net where the solution was mentioned on this page:

    Source:
    <a href="http://www.windows7errors.net/remove/complete-solution-to-remove-antivirus-action-from-pc/42">remove antivirus action</a>

I used it and finally removed the rogue program from my system.
