Top 5 Free Blackberry Apps

Miko Amaranthine
Recently the cell phone industry has been pushing consumers towards the application world. So, about one month ago my husband and I decided to purchase a ticket on the bandwagon and join in this new technological sales product.

Thousands of applications are out there for both iphones and Blackberry's. It was hard to decide which phone was rather hard but in the end we chose based upon the service provider and also the price factor. In our area, Verizon was the best choice for reception availability hence we ultimately chose the Blackberry storm. Much to our surprise, the Blackberry storm has many if not all the same features for less upfront and the monthly service.

1. Weatherbug: Around ten years ago I feel in love with Weatherbug for my computer desktop. Unfortunately the computer freeware bogged down my computer and it had to be removed. The Weatherbug application for Blackberry though is smaller in size and does not slow down my cell phone. It shows up to the minute weather information for your inputted zip code. It even has a map with radar and also warns the cell phone user of emergencies in the area.

2. Slacker Radio: Although the Blackberry Storm has an 8 GB memory card it is nice to have access to unlimited music, besides the songs saved on the phone. Once the applications is downloaded, the user can type an artist, song or album name in the search field to get more personalized music to listen to anytime. It also has pre-listed categories to chose from such as country, pop, UK hits, musicals and so on. It also caches stations so users can record a station and then listen when a service is not available.

3. Blackberry Messenger: This instant messenger is available to contact any blackberry user. Not only can you talk instantly but it allows Blackberry users to save money by not purchasing a text package from the service provider. This is pre-installed into the blackberry storm.

4. Sudoku: A new addition of my gaming addiction is this little gem. Sudoku is a Japanese strategy game that tests the brain to solve a number game. It is highly addictive and has around 30 games in one download. Each game is timed, can be saved for later play, and can be replayed as many times as the user wishes.

5. Fat Secret:A personal nutrition/fitness trainer this application makes it easy to track your health. User can enter what food item was eaten and the application will count the daily calories. This is very a very useful application for people on the go while still looking for a healthy eating lifestyle.
