Top 5 Friends Episodes

C.A. Jacobs
Friends was one of the most iconic sitcoms of the 90s about six friends living in New York City. This show chronicled the ups and downs of friendships, relationships, and family. Throughout the ten seasons of the show, five episodes stand above the rest.

Top Friends Episode #1: The One with the Embryos
This episode is best known for the game show that Ross creates for Joey and Chandler to compete against Rachel and Monica. Rachel and Monica bet that they know more about Joey and Chandler than the boys know about the girls. To settle the debate, Ross creates a game of questions that is ultimately resolved through a bonus lightning round. The stakes of the game get even greater when Monica and Rachel agree to give up their apartment if they loose, while Joey and Chandler's chick and duck have to go if the girls win. On another note, Phoebe helps out her stepbrother and his wife by having their embryos implanted inside her.

Top Friends Episode #2: The One with the Prom Video
This is the episode that brings Ross and Rachel together after a quarrel in the previous episode in season two. At the beginning of the episode, Phoebe reassures Ross that it will all work out with Rachel saying, "It's a known fact that lobsters fall in love and mate for life...you can actually see old lobster couples walking around their tank holding claws." The gang watches Rachel and Monica's old Prom Video where Ross, unknown to Rachel, got ready to stand in for her absent date. As Rachel's date finally showed, Ross was seen standing on the stairs with flowers and in a tux. His chivalrous move impressed Rachel as they were watching the video and she leapt into his arms. Phoebe stated, "He's her lobster!"

Top Friends Episode #3: The One with the Rumor
In this Thanksgiving episode, Brad Pitt guest stars as a high school friend to both Ross and Monica. It turns out that Ross and Will, played by Brad Pitt, had a "We Hate Rachel Club" in high school. At this point in the series, Ross has a child with Rachel and only joined the club, consisting of just the two boys, in order to talk more about his love interest Rachel. At the time this episode aired Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston, who played Rachel, were actually married creating a hilarious interaction between the two. Also, Joey tries to consume an entire Thanksgiving meal by himself, using Phoebe's maternity pants as the dinner progresses.

Top Friends Episode #4: The One with the Proposal
After Monica's ex-boyfriend, Richard, proposes, Monica escapes to think about things. Her current boyfriend, Chandler, goes to Richard's apartment to look for her and explains his love for Monica. When Chandler returns to the apartment, Monica is on her knees trying to propose to Chandler. They both end up on their knees, crying, and engaged. The rest of the gang is trying to decide who they want as their back up husband or wife if they are not married by forty.

Top Friends Episode #5: The One with the Football
This Thanksgiving episode gets competitive when the gang helps Monica and Ross play football to fight for the Gellar Cup, a troll trophy they competed for as children. Rivalries extend to Chandler and Joey who compete for a girl who watches them play as well as to girls vs. guys. This episode exposes the character's true personalities in a fun holiday game.

Friends will forever be a loved sitcom that affected American culture and touched the hearts of many. I bet some can even remember asking their hairstylist to give them "The Rachel." With so many great episodes and ten seasons of laughter, numerous episodes may make it to your top five.
