Top 5 Funniest Super Bowl XLIV Commercials

Don't Miss Out on These Hilarious Commercials!

Josh Mason
The Super Bowl is one of the most coveted sporting events for sports fans, but many non-sports fans tune in every year to watch the hilarious commercials. With advertisers spending 2-2.5million for a mere 30 seconds of air time we expect to see the very best commercials in one solid block. Below are my choices for the top 5 funniest and catchiest ads from Super Bowl XLIV. Disclaimer: The ad choices are in no particular order.

1.
Megan Fox Photo

Product advertised: Motorola smartphones

Overview of commercial: The Megan Fox photo commercial opens up with hot actress Megan Fox in the bathtub taking a photo of herself on her Motorola smart phone with MotoBlur. She then says asks the question, "Wonder what would happen if I were to send this out," which referred to the photo.

Why the commercial was funny:

The commercial progresses with an electrical worker receiving the photo and falling onto power lines, a young boy locking himself in his room while his mother knocks, an older married couple, a gay couple, and then a home repair crew member falling off a ladder when his spotter receives the photo. The commercial was funny because it touched all age groups and sexual preferences, this is a must see for any man!

2. You're not you when you're hungry

Product advertised: Snickers

Overview of commercial: Friends are together playing a football game when we see that one of the players is Betty White, and she plays exactly as if you would expect Betty White to play.

Why the commercial was funny:

Seeing Betty White attempt to tackle these young men is hilarious, especially when it is her turn to be tackled. The players tell Betty White that she is playing like Betty White, and when the actress is handed a Snickers candy bar she turns into a normal aged male player. This is a must see, honestly who could pass up watching Betty White play football.

3. Stranded

Product advertised: Bud Light

Overview of commercial: For all the Lost fans out there, this advertisement is a direct spoof to the hit TV show. The crew members of a downed aircraft (all of which resemble the Lost characters) are stranded on an island; when one of the female crew members approaches the group and says she found a way to get off the island they see a fridge from the downed plane full of Bud Light. The crew members break out the Bud Light and start partying ignoring all chances of being rescued.

Why the commercial was funny:

Lost fans will love the reference, and for the rest of us we found the crew members partying and drinking Bud Light a hilarious antidote to an otherwise serious TV show. If I was on the island, I think I would stay and drink Bud Light instead of being rescued. This hilarious spoof has to be seen!

4. Ten Years

Product advertised: Hyundai

Overview of commercial: Brett Favre is giving a Super Bowl Winning speech (holding a holographic trophy) from the year 2020, which is funny because he is already the oldest quarterback currently playing in the NFL. The commercial then digresses to a statement from Hyundai, which says, "we don't know what things will be like 10 years from now, but we can assure you that your Hyundai will still be covered".

Why the commercial was funny:

Anyone that follows football will get the reference to Brett Favre's age, and the fact that many of us are wondering when, if ever, he will retire. Brett's speech he gives in the commercial is over the top, but I will not spoil it here. Check out the commercial for yourself with the link below.

5. Underdog

Product advertised: Doritos

Overview of commercial: A man sitting on a park bench is eating a bag of Doritos when a dog comes by with an anti-bark collar. The man then tells the dog to speak if he wants a Doritos, which the dog obviously cannot do with the electric collar.

Why the commercial was funny:

The dog realizing he wants the Doritos takes off his collar and straps it to the man, when the man tries to talk, the collar zaps him, and the dog takes the bag. The commercial ends with the man trying to yell at the dog, but is continuously zapped by the collar. This ad is a must see!
