Top 5 Gift Card Ideas: Make Mothers Day Special

~Addie~
Buying presents is not always the easiest thing to do. As it would have it, buying presents for the ones closest to us always seems to be difficult. Which doesn't seem to make a whole lot of sense, considering these are the people we know the best right? I know for me, every year mothers day rolls around and im struggling trying to find the best gift for my mom. My mother has everything under the sun, there really isn't anything that she needs, or that she doesn't already have. So what do you do? How do you find the perfect Mothers Day gift?

Gift cards have become so popular over the past few years. Once gift certificates on a small piece of paper similar to a check, have now become cute little credit card sized plastic. Gift cards come in all colors designs and best of all you can put any amount on them. Just about every retailer, spa, store and restaurant offers gift cards so this can make your options pretty big. What does your mom like to do?

If mom likes to be pampered, consider giving her a gift card to a day spa or nail salon. These can be picked up right at the specific location of where she will go to have the services done. You can put any amount on the card, and this will allow mom to choose what she wants to get.

If mom likes to shop, this is where it gets tough. What is moms favorite store? Get her a gift card to the place she doesn't get a chance to go that often. You can purchase gift cards at most retail department stores, and can put any amount on them. Most department store gift cards do not have an expiration date on them, so mom can use her gift card when ever she wants to.

If mom likes to eat, restaurants always offer gift cards. You can get restaurant gift cards at the specific restaurant or you can also purchase restaurant gift cards at walmart, walgreens and even some gas stations. These are great because you can purchase it at one place, and mom can use it at any location she desires. Just be sure to put enough to cover her meal.

If mom loves jewelry, a gift card to a jeweler may be a great gift idea. Mom knows what she likes, and when it comes to buying jewelry for other people you have to really know what they like or else it could be a potential waste of money. Mom may have been eyeing a special piece of jewelry but just has not said anything. When going for a jewelry gift card take a look at the items in the store first, see what's your moms style and what's not, check the pricing. This may help you better decide how much money to put on the card. Even if mom ends up paying some out of her own pocket she will surely appreciate the extra money she saves.

If mom likes to decorate or add beautiful things to her home, maybe a gift card to a art store, or a home furnishings store would do the trick. This way she could get something special just for her.

My top 5 picks for Mothers Day gift cards are:

1. If mom likes pampering- A nail salon/spa day gift card is perfect. Glen Ivy in California is great place to get some great massage packages. Day spa and nail gift cards have to be purchased at the spa or nail salon.

2. If mom likes to shop- definitely a gift card to Nordstroms.

3. If mom likes to eat- My mothers favorite restaurant is Cheesecake Factory so I would get her a gift card there, with enough on it that she could go back two or three times. Can be purchased at the restaurant or at your local walmart or walgreens store.

4. If mom likes jewelry- Kay Jeweler gives gift cards, as well as Daniel's Jewelers.

5. If mom likes to decorate- My mom just bought a new house so she's always adding new things to it. Pier 1 gives gift cards and she could go to pick out nice things for her new home. Purchased at any pier 1 retailer.

Gift cards are a perfect idea, easy to do. Just be sure to find a place that mom loves.
