Top 5 Goalies Currently in the NHL

Christopher Edelen
Martin Brodeur- By the far the best goalie of the last decade. This season he has shined just like he has in the past. His 29 wins and 8 shutouts are helping the New Jersey Devils to be one of the best teams in the league. He also is among the best in the league in save percentage with 92.8%, the most important stat a goalie can have. He also has the best goals against average with 2.01 goals a game. Brodeur is one of the NHL's best all time goalies, he currently has 475 wins on his career. Brodeur will sure hit the 500 win mark within this season or the next. Brodeur also played in the 2007 all star game.

Roberto Luongo- Although Luongo suffered early in his career with the Florida Panthers, Luongo has broken out this season. Luongo stats show how well he is playing. With the trade that brought Todd Bertuzzi to the Panthers and Luongo to the Vancouver Canucks, the Canucks have been the more profitable team. The Canucks are 27-16 when Luongo plays. He currently has 3 shutouts on the season and starred in the 2007 all star game.

Ryan Miller- Miller's performance in the 2005-2006 playoffs was incredible. As young as Miller is, his maturity and calmness keep the Buffalo Sabres in every game. He is also among the goalies who appeared in this year's all star game. Miller has 24 wins on the season and only 8 losses, this is an astounding accomplishment. Look for Miller to continue his great play and become a wildly successful goaltender in the years to come.

Dominik Hasek- Hasek has been in the league for over 15 years and is still among the NHL's best. This season he has 25 goals and 8 losses. Hasek also has 6 shutouts on the season in 37 games. Hasek also has one of the best goals against average with 2.03 goals per game. Hasek's career will only last a little bit longer, but keep an eye on his game as he seems to only continue to get better.

J.S. Giguere- The Anaheim Ducks are among the favorites at this point in the season to win the Stanley Cup. With the help of Giguere, this just may be a possibility. Giguere has 23 wins this season with only 4 losses in 34 games. Granted, Giguere has a great defense in Chris Pronger and Scott Niedermayer in front of him, but Giguere's play has been simply incredible. In the 2002-2003 playoffs, Giguere won the playoff MVP and played great throughout the playoffs. If the Ducks can keep up there great play, look for Giguere to back them up.
