Pennies
Pennies, actually coins in general, will not endear you to the masses of kids who fall upon your front doorstep. The days of penny candy are gone. Yes, copper is a highly valued commodity. However, not by the tricker treater set. Plus, pennies are mostly made of zinc. The best thing to do is to gather your coins and buy a big bag of candy.
Homemade Candy
Are you thinking about having a DIY Halloween? Keep the homemade stuff limited to costumes and decorations. Homemade candy, popcorn balls, cookies, and candy apples are all destined to end up crashing through your front window or in the trash. Halloween safety experts place the following at the top of their tip lists to parents: Throw out all homemade candy or baked goods. There are no exceptions to this rule. Don't waste your creative genius on Halloween trick or treaters. Instead, satisfy your DIY urge by turning your bedsheet into a mummy costume or carving a Halloween pumpkin.
Peanut Butter Candy
There is a certain type of Halloween candy that comes wrapped in black and orange paper and has a peanut butter flavor. You can buy a truckload of this candy for about one dollar. Resist the urge to purchase this cheap Halloween treat. It is disgusting and most kids are now born with a genetic hatred of this candy. Oh, this advice also applies to black licorice. Kids hate black licorice. Stay away from black licorice. Another candy to avoid is Bit O Honey. I am not sure this even qualifies as candy. Avoid it.
Healthy Snacks and Treats
Does Halloween leave you feeling guilty because you are contributing to the unhealthy eating habits of today's kids? As a conscientious citizen you may be tempted to assuage your guilt by passing out healthy snacks and treats. Don't do it. Kids do not want to receive your apples, carrot sticks, or boxes of raisins. Kids also do not want pencils, erasers, or toothbrushes. If you cannot pass out candy it would be best to keep the lights off and ignore the doorbell.
Halloween is Satanic Pamphlets
Pamphlets condemning Halloween as evil and satanic will not be appreciated (unless wrapped around premium full sized candy bars). Little vials of holy water and plastic rosaries are also not very good Halloween treat ideas.

Post a CommentIt is so correct! I grew up & live in the city and if you tried to give fruit for Halloween, you are looked at as the person trying to poison the kids! Fruit, juice boxes, homemade goods all need to be tossed out! Unless you live in some town where everyone knows everyone, this is not a good idea at all! Kids get one day a year to have some fun and enjoy themselves! Didn't you when you were a kid? Stop trying to keep the kids sedated with no sugar!!! And stop cheaping out!!!
Just because you are allergic to peanuts and can't enjoy in the wonderful goodness that is Hershey peanut butter cups doesn't mean you should be mean to everyone else. And Bit-O-Honey? Are you serious! It's sweet and delicious. The 6 year puke will eat it. If he/she had the chance they'd eat raw sugar. Why eat nastiness? Because it's sugar. You threw in the Abortion Act in the Medicare Bill. You are a sad bastard indeed. Go hang yourself for Halloween, somewhere public. At least you can serve this world by scaring the crap out of a bunch little kids.
