The Ultimate Scary Games to Give You Chills This Halloween!

Skyler Raine
Halloween is the time of year for spooks and scares. What better way to indulge in a little fright than to immerse yourself into a creepy alternate-world - video games! Below you'll find the top 5 games to play this Halloween!

1. Dead Rising 2: Take on the role of a former Motocross champ, Chuck Greene. He arrives at Fortune City to compete in the gory game show: "Terror is Reality" - where contestants must survive against zombies for great prizes. While participating in the game, an actual zombie outbreak occurs and Chuck is left with only 72 hours to rise victorious. His main goal: to find a new drug called Zombrex so that his daughter - who has been bitten by a zombie - does not turn into one of the foul mindless beings.

2. Silent Hill Origins: This is the first game made for the handheld PSP in the Silent Hill series. In this game you will travel back to a time before the original Silent Hill. You will step into the shoes of a truck driver who finds himself trapped in Silent Hill (sound familiar?). He soon finds himself face to face with many of the gruesome inhabitants of this haunted city. He is pestered by the constant hallucinations which have haunted his mind since childhood. You'll find all new monsters and a fresh plot that will grip you from the start.

3. Heavy Rain: If you like suspenseful thrillers, you will love this one! You're on the hunt for the Origami Killer (Who is named because of his trademark clues - at each murder, he will leave folded origami pieces behind). After each abduction, the victims will die within 4 days. You're on a race against the clock to solve the murders and attempt to save the victims in time. Many of your actions will have a reaction and yes, your victims can die! You will step right into each main characters shoes and face decisions that will blow your mind. Can you handle pain to rescue the one you love?

4. Resident Evil 4: Why 4 and not 5? Simple - RE4 will give you chills, it's eerie and the storyline is compelling. RE5 is more of a splash and gore blood bath which lacks in the spooky factor. In this game you will find yourself reunited with Leon Kennedy (this may ring a bell for those who played RE2). He has worked his way up the ladder and is now a Federal agent. Word arrives that the President's daughter has been kidnapped and Leon is the 'go-to' man for the search and rescue mission. He swiftly tracks her location to a secluded fortress within Europe. His past flashes before his eyes as he is yet again immersed in the horrors he survived 6 years prior. There are all new enemies that are more vicious than ever before.

5. Left 4 Dead 2: You'll find that this game takes off at the same timeline of the first game. The majority of the population has been transformed into zombies by an outbreak. You'll play with a cast of all new surviving humans from Georgia. The plot? Simple - survive.

Despite having zombies, Dead Rising 2 is not the least bit scary (although I will admit seeing the lead character in a dress is a bit creepy).

I would have replaced it with Amnesia: The Dark Descent.Otherwise, a good list
