Top 5 Job Hunting Sites

Lyn Vaccaro
After 20 years as a stay-at-home mom, I recently joined the ranks of the working crowd. It was quite an adjustment to say the least. However, I found some websites that were a great help with finding the places that would be appropriate for me to send resumes and applications to. The following are a few of these sites. I found all of them very user-friendly and manageable to utilize.

TrueCareers.com

This site is as helpful for employers looking to fill positions and those that are job hunting as well. You'll have the ability to post your resume as an applicant, and employers can post they're needs regarding prospective applicants. It even lists advice for those who own small businesses.

Hotjobs.com

Here's a great Yahoo site that has quite a variety of tabs that provide workflow, which in turn provides great assistance to each user. You can search related job categories and find out job descriptions, as well as locations.

I thought being able to save your searches with the "My Searches" tab was extremely helpful and a great feature of this site. There's also a "My Saved" tab for referring back to searches of jobs that you have an interest in.

If resumes are a problem for you, you can find help on this site with those, too, by updating an old one or, if need be, starting all over and creating a new one.

Net-Temps.com

In one click you have a nice list of job openings on this site. Once you establish a location and a keyword, just click, and you'll have over 100 results at your fingertips. Those searching for jobs can implement a "job search" assistant that searches contracts for jobs, as well as direct jobs, storing up to three resumes for you.

Monster.com

For those looking for work around the globe, Monster.com is a great way to do so. Their international job search feature will bring in a large array of job opportunities for your category worldwide. They also provide a free homepage and a place where your resume can be posted, along with some great career tools that can help you navigate through the job hunting process.

Simply Hired

Here's a site that breaks things down pretty thoroughly for you. I found this site very engaging with its email alerts and info on salaries that are broken down by location and occupation. I also felt that their keyword searches pulled up a great selection of job prospects to choose from.

These sites were instrumental in my job hunting search, and as I said earlier, they were all quite user friendly. If you're in the job hunting market, you'll find any one of them a big help in achieving your employment goals.
