Top 5 New Jobs for Suspended Jet Blue Flight Attendant

Brian Koeller
In what is being considered the greatest job-quitting moment since Johnny Paycheck told bosses everywhere "Take This Job and Shove It," a Jet Blue flight attendant cursed out passengers, grabbed a beer and slid down the emergency slide Monday while leaving his job.

Reports indicate Steve Slater, the flight attendant, took his actions after being treated rudely by a passenger and getting hit in the head by the passenger's bag as she was bringing it down from the overhead bin. When he asked for an apology and did not receive one, he went to the PA system of the plane, spouted several obscenities, grabbed a beer, deployed the emergency slide and used it to leave the plane.

While underappreciated workers around the country dreamed of leaving their jobs in such a fashion, the fact is Slater was arrested and likely will never work as a flight attendant again.

Here, then, is some advice on which jobs he should seek which could take advantage of his particular set of talents. Not good choices, though, would be bartender since he takes the drinks with him and boxer because he doesn't seem able to take a punch very well.

Better choices would be:

5. Carny or dunk tank dunkee - In 1980, Gary Busey starred in a movie called "Carnie," in which he played the guy who sits in the dunk tank for a traveling carnival and tries to get people to want to drop him in the water. He is obnoxious, loud and crude, often angering passersby enough to pay money to throw balls at the target just to shut him up. If Slater doesn't get a job at an actual carnival, maybe he could star in a remake.

4. Reality TV star- Seems like everybody's getting their own show these days. Slater certainly has a flamboyant style and you just never know when something else might set him off on another tirade. His fame won't last long, so he should cash in on this while he can.

3. Advisor to Lindsay Lohan - Slater knows when it's a good time to get out and he does so with only two beers, rather than after becoming totally inebriated. If she could learn to leave a party, or show up for work, with only two beers, it would be a step in the right direction.

2. Rapper - Maybe not a full solo career at this, but he could maybe be the guy who stands off to the side yelling obscenities that seemingly have no reason for being in the song the star rapper is singing.

1. Social spotlight - Not really a job, yet, but maybe one that needs to be created. Several Internet comments have centered on the fact airlines, and the public, have brought this sort of thing on themselves. American society is getting more and more selfish, rude and egotistical, while the airlines are forcing service crews to work under a shortage. Slater brought both situations to the national spotlight. Perhaps he could be the next Morgan Spurlock, the "30 Days" guy who turned his McDonald's project into a TV series on FX highlighting various aspects of America.

Like it, especially the reality tv star. Maybe he could be in the next Big Brother. I feel sorry for him, and it's rude passengers like he faced who cause people to flip. There are a lot of rude people these days, and it only takes so much to make anyone blow a fuse. I wish him well actually, but I also want to know why the woman who instigated this isn't in the news and in jail.
