Top 5 Keeper Right Fielders - 2009 Fantasy Baseball Draft Guide

Aaron Smith
Right fielders are generally known as having plenty of pop in their bat and very strong throwing arms. The right field position has plenty of youngsters that are positioned to make their imprint on the Major Leagues either right now, or very soon. Here is a look at the top five keeper right fielders:

1. Jay Bruce- In my opinion this is a very easy call. Jay Bruce has all the tools you could ever want in a fantasy producer. He has the power, the speed, will hit for a good average, and drive in plenty of runs. If there is one slight weakness it is that he strikes out a bit too much, but this will go down with time. Bruce is extremely young at just 22 years of age and he will be a star for many years to come.

2009 Projected Stats- .281 average 29 home runs 100 runs batted in

2. Nick Markakis- This Orioles youngster has flown under the radar but has already been very productive in his time in the majors. He can hit for a very high average and has decent power and a little speed. Markakis has improve his on base percentage quickly in his three years in the majors. At just 25 Markakis has lots of room to grow.

2009 Projected Stats- .303 average 25 home runs 108 runs batted in

3. Travis Snider- Snider hasn't had any major league experience yet, but expect that to change this year in Toronto. He is one of top prospects in all of the minor leagues and should prove a great five tool player. Give Snider some time and he'll be a great one.

2009 Projected Stats- .267 average 13 home runs 55 runs batted in.

4. Matt Kemp- Matt Kemp has already started to show that he belongs in the majors, but the best is yet to come for him. He can play all three outfield positions well and has plenty of pop in the bat. The Dodgers have a bright star here.

2009 Projected Stats- .295 average 22 home runs 84 runs batted in

5. Justin Upton- Upton was the first pick in the 2005 draft for good reason, and while some are down on him I certainly think the kid will have lots of great years. He's just 21 years old so it may take time, but it will come!

2009 Projected Stats- .272 average 20 home runs 67 runs batted in.
