Urban Meyer may have started his head coaching career with two solid years at Bowling Green, but he gained everyone's respect and national attention after winning the 2003 Liberty Bowl and finishing the season 10-2. The Liberty Bowl victory also helped earn Meyer the 2003 Sporting News National Coach of the Year.

Finishing the 2004 season with a victory in the 2005 Tostitos Fiesta Bowl was the second best moment in Urban Meyer's career. This one victory over the Pittsburgh Panthers (35-7), won Meyer the Coach of the Year Award, made him the most sought after coach in all of college football, and made a case for why school like Utah deserve a spot in the BCS and a chance at a National Championship. Whether you credit Urban Meyer or Tim Tebow with leading the Gators to another National Championship, it is hands down the best moment in Urban Meyer's career. Meyer and the Gators had been ridiculed for losing to the Ole Miss Rebels and no one thought the Gators deserved a shot at the National Championship (similar to 2007). The Florida Gators defeated the 12-1 Oklahoma Sooners led by Heisman Trophy winner Sam Bradford. With the victory, Meyer went down in history as the first coach to win 2 BCS National Championship games.
