Top 5 Most Memorable Television Mom Moments

Who ever said Motherhood is easy has not raised a child; these mom moments can make us laugh, cry or even feel inspired. Some of the best TV show moments have been when the Moms have done or said something that make it memorable.

Motherhood has been portrayed in numerous ways on television and without those character Moms entertaining us and sometimes teaching us, the TV show just would not have been same without them.

While the most memorable television Mom moments are too numerous to count and each viewer has their own particular favorite, I have found my own Top 5 Most Memorable Television Mom Moments, some were good and some were bad but each were memorable for me!

Brothers and Sisters- Season 1, Episode 21 "Grapes Of Wrath" (05/06/2007)

Nora Walker (Sally Field)

Nora Walker becomes angry at Holly Harper (Patricia Wettig) and smashes a cake on Holly's couture dress. A yelling argument is also going on between the two with snide comments being made to each other. A huge food fight ensues after Nora smashes the cake on Holly's dress and the cat fight is on a grand scale! Although I am not an advocate of fighting, I thought when Nora smashed the cake on Holly's dress was a classic TV Mom moment and I could not stop laughing!

The Cosby Show-Season 8, Episode 12 "Clair's Place" (12/19/1991)

Clair Huxtuble (Phylicia Rashad)

Clair Huxtable is wanting some privacy so Cliff Huxtuble (Bill Cosby) finishes Clair's room earlier than she expects. The room does not have furniture but Clair ends up spending the entire day in it as she is so desperately seeking some alone time. The Huxtable children become very sad as their Mom is not spending time with them. There are so many memorable TV Mom moments from this show but I particularly liked this episode as I can relate so well to Clair and have wanted so often to be able to lock myself in a room and have my own alone time away from the kids.

Desperate Housewives-Season 1, Episode 7 "Anything You Can Do" (11/21/2004)

Susan Mayer (Teri Hatcher)

Susan is going on a date with Mike Delfino (James Denton) and wants to look really sexy for Mike but Julie Mayer (Andrea Bowen) is lecturing her Mom about her choice of clothing and also her curfew time. The banter between the two is so amusing and they way the Mother and Daughter switched roles was also very funny.

Gilmore Girls-Season 1, Episode 9 "Rory's Dance" (12/20/2000)

Lorelai Gilmore (Lauren Graham)

Rory Gilmore (Alexis Bledel) and Dean Forester (Jared Padalecki) attend a formal dance but the two end up falling asleep after the dance. The incident causes Rory's Grandma and Lorelai to argue over who is worse Mom. The interrelationship of Grandma, Mom and Daughter is very intriguing and the way the characters interact in this episode is memorable for me.

The Real Housewives Of Orange County, Season 2, Episode 202 (01/23/2007)

Vicki Gunvalson (Herself)

Vicki is making everyone in her life crazy as she is trying to get ready to take a 2 week cruise to Europe. Vicki is dedicated to her business, to say the least and it is a struggle for her to let go of it for the 2 weeks. While I do not know that I would use the term Real Housewives of Orange County, the housewives lifestyle is not a reality to me, I guess it would suffice to say it is real to women in the TV show. However, the way Vicki reacts to other people and things that go on in her life is very humorous to me, I think she is way over the top and she makes me chuckle when she is on her irate tantrums.

Some of the television Moms have made us laugh, some have made us cry and some have even given us hope and inspiration. Regardless of the impact the TV Mom has made on us, regardless if the impact is good or bad, the moment has been memorable!
