Top 5 Most Useless Video Game Products

Ever Wondered What it Would Be like to Launch Real Nerf Missiles While You Play Missile Commander?

Nicholas Ward
Every year the industry struggles to adapt and create new venues for gamers to pursue, but every once in a while they slip up and make something no one can really use. Do these companies then dump the line? No, instead they are ever more determined to sell you on it, with mass marketing of a product so worthless even a diehard fan couldn't enjoy it. These products constitute in my opinion some of the most useless video game products released to date.

Top 5 most useless video game products: The USB Missile Launcher.

Unless you're into shooting your buddies with Nerf guns, this USB rocket launcher is definitely not on your list of must have video game products. On the other hand the game and gun made by Nerf are a nice alternative if you own a Wii. Surprisingly I've had a lot of fun with this game, and I'm not a big fan of Nerf.

Top 5 most useless video game products: The Butt Kicker

It's a rare occasion when someone actually wants to have their butt kicked, but this video game product does just that. Every time you get shot, or an explosion goes off near you in the game, you get nice little jolt in the butt. Now to some guys this might be exciting, but I'd presume those are the kind of guys you don't want to have an all-night lan party with. If you're still interested in getting your butt kicked though, my foot is available and a lot cheaper then this.

Top 5 most useless video game products: The TN Games 3rd Space Gaming Vest

If you're looking to get shot in the chest, this video game product is likely perfect for you, on the other hand you could just pay me $150 to come shoot you with a paintball gun. The thought of someone wishing to actually experience every bullet, makes me wonder why they play video games at all. Now aint that a kick in the chest.

Top 5 most useless video game products: The Red Zone

For this list I've tried to avoid some of the most common video game products even though they certainly are some of the most useless, so instead of pointing out the flaws of the Virtual Boy, I've instead decided to point out the flaws of its clone the Red Zone.

The Red Zone was released by Tiger Electronics at nearly the same time as Nintendo released its Virtual Boy, and operated in much the same way. Both the Virtual Boy and Red Zone actually took a leap backwards in technology to the era of the Vectrex, using nothing more than vertexes (lines) to draw an image. The primary difference being that the R-zone had only one panel rather than stereo vision. The name Red Zone was decided by the color of the games on the screen. (Red)

Top 5 most useless video game products: The Game Boy printer

For a hand held console system the idea of a printer is pretty off the wall to begin with, but when the printer is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand, and prints on receipt paper, it's really not a video game product at all. This rather boring video game product would have served store keepers well I'm sure. However, it never had much use as a gaming product, and why Nintendo thought it was a good idea is beyond me. Combine with Game Boy Camera to get the full picture of just how useless it truly is.

Now don't get me wrong, I never said none of these video game products couldn't be fun, simply that they are useless. These video game products don't perform any functions which really help you in the game, and some can even become considerable distractions. While the vest may actually be of use to a deaf person (Depending on how strong the kickback is) any average person really has no need for it. If you're interested in feeling each bullet instead of buying one of the most useless video game products ever made, just go get a paintball gun and make a day of it.

  • The Red Zone failed miserably I don't think they had more then a million sales total.
  • The USB rocket launcher could be fun, but is very useless.
  • The butt kicker is one of the most hilarious video game products I've seen to date.
Most top 5 most useless video game product lists include, the Power Glove, Virtual Boy, 'R.O.B.', Power pad, and the Sega actiivator. and this is a great list, but if I kept with the trend this would be a very boring article. it's time for a change up.
