Top 5 Most Wanted Playstation/Playstation 2 Sequels or Remakes

I remember back in the day in elementary school when the Playstation initially came out and it was the next big thing. There were arguments everywhere about which was better - NIntendo 64 or the Playstation. Of course, in retrospect, I believe the Playstation was better, as it generally had a wider variety of better games and higher quality in graphics. But to each their own.

This is a list I've compiled (after careful thought) of the top five most wanted remakes or sequels from the original Playstation and Playstation 2 generation that hasn't made a comeback (at least not yet) into the realm of Playstation 3.

1. Chrono Cross
To any serious RPG freaks like myself you know of this great, deep title. This is my favorite game ever created as there was tons of playable characters, a great integrated battle system, and a deep storyline. Chrono Cross is about a boy named Serge who bounces between two time lines. Throughout the game you fight enticing bosses, cross through beautiful scenery, recruit a wide array of characters that range from a small alien named Starky to Zoah - a helmed man of a huge build. Each character also has their own special abilities that are obtained through progression of the game.

Chrono Cross doesn't need a sequel exactly, but a remake would be great for this game - especially since there are more serious gamers out there now than before. A new installment in the series, as Chrono Cross was to Crono Trigger, would also be a great treat as well for avid RPG players.

2. Time Splitters
Time Splitters was a widely known first person shooter that took the heart of many back in the day. Time Splitters was well known for it's good campaign, deep level customizer/editor, wide assortment of guns and characters, and the ability to play against bots. Time Splitters had a nice arcade-like feel that made the players come back for more, and it honestly became addicting.

With the power of the Playstation 3 a new Time Splitters would have endless possibilities and enhanced game play that any serious FPS lover would want to indulge themselves in.

3. Final Fantasy VII
I was always a huge RPG fan, but I never got too heavily into Final Fantasy VII, so this is all from speculation from other gamers, and I've always heard the same thing - Final Fantasy VII was the best one in the series. By the time I got into RPGs I started with the next Final Fantasy in the series - Final Fantasy VIII. From what I've played and heard Final Fantasy VII had great characters (come on, everyone knows who Cloud and Sephiroth are) and an unforgettable story line.

Obviously I am not suggesting a sequel per say, but a remake with additional content and updated graphics would surely be a big hit for the Playstation 3.

4. Socom
I know there are more current Socom games, and I also believe there is a new one coming out as well. However, from the progression of the Socom games the feel and gameplay has changed dramatically. When you compare Socom II to Socom III or Socom: Combined Assault it doesn't even feel like the same series. Socom, the original one, would be greatly appreciated by hardcore Socom fans that have been following the series since the beginning. Fan favorite maps such as Frostfire and Desert Glory in updated graphics with some additional content would make any hardcore Socom player's throat quiver and shed a tear in happiness. The biggest aspect that would have to remain the same would be the feel and controls of the game, as that's one of the biggest changes that was made throughout the progression of the Socom series.

I would suggest that Zipper Interactive, the original creators of the Socom series, create this game and add content such as changing maps weather and time of day, adding new game types (even minigames), and having greater customization of game play and setup. However, I wouldn't suggest adding vehicles, just like the original Socom didn't have them.

5. The Legend of Dragoon
I got decently far into this game back in the day when it first came out. My first thought when I initially turned it on was amazement merely by the main screen and the intro cinematics - they were spectacular. The graphics ni-game weren't bad for it's time, either. Overall this is a game somewhat like Final Fantasy with a different story and some small difference. The story is great, and my favorite part was the tactical combat system and morphing the characters into their Dragoon stages. In a nutshell this game is about humans acquiring mythical powers to help save their race against the Winglies - a race trying to make the human race extinct.

Overall I believe "The Legend of Dragoon" needs a remake more than anything with current graphics and some additional content. Maybe they should even let friends play online together by each controlling a character. Like Chrono Cross, a new installment to this game would also be great as it is one of the deepest, most riveting RPGs that I've ever played.

These are the cream of the crop titles when it comes to memorable games from the Playstation and the PS2 era that should be remade or have sequels made. I am certain that if Sony implemented all of these ideas that every gamer would at least appreciate one of the ideas on this list for most wanted remakes/sequels.
