The Playstation 3 is the console to get this holiday season, having an excellent line-up of exclusives and anticipated games set for release during the end of the year. If you want to get the best PS3 gaming gifts for this Christmas, look no further. These are the top 5 most-wanted PS3 games of the 2009-2010 holidays.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves (PS3 only)

Nathan Drake is just an ordinary guy put in extraordinary situations. In Uncharted: Drake's Fortune, the man went on to become one of PS3's greatest action heroes. But after seeing this new sequel, even Indiana Jones would shed a tear.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is a perfectly paced cross-over of adventure, action, shooting, platforming, and puzzle solving. This time there's stealth action, competitive and cooperative multiplayer (a colossal addition), heightened graphics, and a Hollywood-esque storyline that makes it feel like a blockbuster movie within a video game. The plot revolves around Nathan Drake seeking to discover the legendary city of Shambala and the secret behind Marco Polo's doomed voyage from China. This is probably the most-wished Playstation 3 exclusive of 2009 so put it on your Christmas gift list.

Demon's Souls (PS3 only)

Demon's Souls is a PS3-exclusive fantasy action RPG that received little hype in 2009, until it was released late in the year. The game quickly rose in the charts and has gotten rave reviews for its unique style of hard-hitting, no nonsense, and uncompromising gameplay. Let me elaborate.

You will probably die more in this game than any other game you ever played. Your deaths put you in more unforgiving situations and there is no way to get past the beasts and demons unless you learn how to do it yourself - the hard way. It's a throwback to old-school RPGs, when games were played by many and beaten by few. Demon's Souls is extremely rewarding when you finally manage not to screw up and die. The online mode is top-notch, in which other players can leave messages and hints on how to get past an area. Slain players' bloodstains can also give clues on what to expect by showing you how they got massively owned. There is also co-operative play (up to three players) and competitive play where players can actually make life more difficult for you.

Did I mention some of the messages that players can leave for you may actually be hilarious traps? "Turn left, and keep running fast, don't look back dude!" And then you run off of a cliff into a pit of lava. Atleast you learn the hard way. Demon's Souls is not impossible - it just forces gamers to think more wisely, the way it was done back in the old days. This game is incredibly fun, rewarding, and its visuals look stunning. Suck it up and get it.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (also on PC and Xbox 360)

Modern Warfare 2 is probably the real reason why so many hyped games have been delayed to 2010. It will continue the story from its predecessor, several years later as the Russian Ultranationalist organization returns to prominence and poses a huge threat to the world. The game will use the new IW 4.0 game engine (an upgrade), will have larger worlds, and enhanced visuals. There is now dynamic AI to move players forward (without the need for respawning enemies) and they also behave differently each time a level is played.

New weapons, fighting on vehicles (think snowmobiles and more), more interactive gameplay, a single player campaign stated to be much superior to the original... a pre-ordering sales number higher than any other game created by the company in history - you get the idea. Modern Warfare 2 will retain its addictive multiplayer component and now includes a co-op Special Ops mode (beating levels on "Veteran" difficulty can unlock new levels) and the online mode will introduce new rewards and "perks" to go with its experience points system.

If you need a holiday gift, get Modern Warfare 2. Satisfaction guaranteed.

FIFA Soccer 10 (also on PSP, PC, Xbox 360, PS2, and Wii)

Sports games get a lot of flak but let's be honest - how much can you really change up a sports game? You definitely can't change rules. But what you can do is significantly enhance the way the game is played and make it rewarding to players that use their skills to the max. FIFA Soccer 10 is definitive of this, having received core refinements to its gameplay.

The Manager Mode has been revamped with things like the in-game determined experience system, more realistic fatigue, more aggressive goalkeepers, 360 degree ball control (that's right), improved AI, a more authentic transfer system, and more in the over 50 key improvements. You can now create your own pro-footballer with "Virtual Pro", grow his attributes and abilities to use as your avatar in online play, among other modes. FIFA 10 is possibly the best soccer/football game to date and the best yearly "update" sports game in a long, long time.

God of War Collection (PS3 only)

New PS3 owners probably heard of the God of War series (for Playstation 2) but never had a chance to play. The two released God of War games are playable on the PS3 with backward compatibility but there are no differences in graphics or gameplay... until now.

The God of War Collection (to be released on November 10th, 2009) is exclusive to the PS3 and its two components (God of War and God of War II) have been digitally remastered as Blue-ray discs. It will have high definition 720p resolution, anti-aliasing graphics running at an impeccable 60 frames per second, the inclusion of Trophy rewards, and will serve to familiarize gamers with the upcoming guaranteed hit God of War III in 2010.

Ignorant gamers should know that these two games are ranked as some of the PS2's best looking games and are in many high profile gaming websites' top 20 lists of video games. In other words, they are some of the most critically acclaimed games in history. With that said, expect the God of War Collection to be a near perfect port to the PS3. And if that's not enough, the price of $39.99 should do it. That's right - two huge games at a price twenty dollars less than a standard PS3 game, that play like PS3 games.

Get this collection for Christmas - it's a gift bound to induce happiness. Only downside (if you want to call it that) is you'll be forced to buy God of War III as well when it comes out. Play these two and you'll understand why.
