1. Lucky Number Slevin is my favorite movie of all time. The plot line is unreal. If you're not paying attention from the first scene, you will be lost. What is great about this movie is the repeatability. I bring friends over and watch this movie all the time. Slevin is a thinker movie that makes you hold your breath in the end. Unlike most plots, a lot of loose ends are untied. I think the director ties up everything exceptionally well. The movie is about mistaken identity, murder, revenge, and love. Not to mention the all star cast of Lucy Liu, Josh Hartnett, Bruce Willis, Morgan Freeman, and Sir Ben Kingsley. You will leave this movie with a sense of accomplishment (for understanding the storyline) and a feeling of mystery.
2. Boon Dock Saints is another amazing movie. Unfortunately it hasn't received the recognition that it should be given. This might be due to the fact that there are around 250 "F" words. This is a turn off to a lot of movie watchers. The story takes place in Boston, and the "F" word is just another word there. So if you can get passed that, the movie is incredible. The premise for the story in itself is a great story. Two brothers feel that they are called to kill all the "evil men" in South Boston. While an investigator tries to figure the whole thing out. The killing scenes are unlike any I have ever seen before. You will leave this movie asking yourself if killing evil men is such a bad thing.
3. 300 is another killing movie. This story is actually based on a real life occurrence. 300 Spartan soldiers stand up to over a million of King Xerxes men. I think the only way to describe the fight scenes in this movie, is that it fulfills my guy lust for blood. In several scenes there is slow motion killing with great choreography. I have seen too many movies with actors in the background tapping swords to each other acting like they are fighting. You can watch this movie over and over and see great deaths in the background. The actors are also jacked which brings more believability to the story. You get the feeling from the camera angles and color that you are looking at a comic book. You will leave the movie wanting to have a sword in your hand and wanting to kick someone down a well.
4. Saving Private Ryan is hands down my favorite WW2 movie. My grandfather fought in WW2 and he saw this film. He told me that this movie was the closest thing to actually being there. My grandpa actually started crying when the Americans stormed the beach. Tom Hanks gives one of the best acting performances that I have ever seen. I personally have not been able to watch the movie the whole way through and not shed a tear at the end. The battle scenes are almost too real, as blood and guts are shown everywhere. The mission is to save one man who has lost all of his brothers. The story is not just about fighting; it also has great dialogue and character development. You will leave this movie having a greater respect for the men that gave their lives for freedom.
5. The Godfather is the last movie that is a must see. If you are a guy and haven't seen this movie, you are missing a piece of your soul. This movie tells a story about a family who runs the streets through murder and corruption. The idea of a family run crime ring is for some reason a huge turn on for men. The ability to kill those who spit in your face, and walk down a street and have things given to you. The acting of Marlon Brando is unreal. I actually believe that he just might be a Don somewhere. With great acting, great plot, and a great ending this movie is truly a classic. The fighting might not be as intense, but you will always remember them. You will leave this movie wanting to start a crime ring with your friends.
These are my favorite guy movies. I hope that you will check them out. Some honorable mentions include: Rambo, Rocky, Fracture, Godfather 2, We Were Soldiers, Fight Club, Departed, Sin City, Kill Bill 1 and 2, The Sixth Sense, and Casino Royale. These are all extremely well made movies that go along with my top five. I hope you enjoy them.
