Which New York Yankees Will Help Your Fantasy Baseball Team Out the Most in 2009?

The New York Yankees had an off-season last season, finishing third in the American League East. However, the fantasy production from their players did not seem to take much of a hit. With the exception of their starting pitching, everything else seemed to be right in line from a fantasy perspective with this team.

The top five fantasy baseball players for the New York Yankees are Alex Rodriguez, Mark Teixeira, CC Sabathia, Joba Chamberlain, and Mariano Rivera.

#1 Overall New York Yankee: Alex Rodriguez - Fantasy Baseball 2009

2008 was another stellar year for the Yankees superstar. He hit 35 home runs, stole 18 bases, and provided another year of all around good production. For 2009, I forsee another strong season for A-Rod. Look for 40+ home runs, 20 stolen bases, and an uptick in both runs and RBI with Mark Teixeira now in town.

#2 Overall New York Yankee: CC Sabathia - Fantasy Baseball 2009

2008 was CC Sabathia's best year to date, posting a 2.70 ERA and 17 wins. He pitched extremely well for the Milwaukee Brewers down the stretch. For 2009, look for an ERA close to 3.00, continued high strikeout numbers (175+), and close to 18 wins.

#3 Overall New York Yankee: Mark Teixeira - Fantasy Baseball 2009

Teixeira has established himself as a reliable power hitter, and the Yankees paid big bucks to get the guy in the last offseason. He hit 33 home runs, batted in 121 RBI, and batted .308 last season. Look for 35+ home runs and another productive year out of Tex.

#4 Overall New York Yankee: Joba Chamberlain - Fantasy Baseball 2009

Chamberlain was one of the best pitchers for the Yankees last year, posting a 2.60 ERA and 10.6 K/9 ratio last year. If Chamberlain starts, look for at least 12 wins, with an ERA just about 3.00. This guy is one of the youngest and most talented pitchers in the entire league.

#5 Overall New York Yankee: Mariano Rivera - Fantasy Baseball 2009

Rivera is getting old in age, but he is still an effective closer. The Yankees will be in line to win a lot of baseball games this year, so his save chances should remain high if he can remain healthy. He posted 39 saves last season with a 1.40 ERA. Look for at least 40 saves, with an ERA around 2.40 for 2009. He is a reliable pick.
