Shopping for holiday decorations in the District of Columbia can be a challenge. The few places that specialize are way over priced. Here are my suggestions for the five best places to get your holiday decorations in or near the District of Columbia.

My first suggestion is Lowe's. Lowe's carries a wide variety of holiday decor. You can get nice wreaths and live garland here as well as that Christmas tree. Whether you are going for real or artificial Lowe's will have the tree for you. Lowe's also carries a number of home decor items for the holidays. What your prices though they typically are more expensive for these types of items. This is a great place to watch for sales after the holiday season though. They can deeply discount items that are left over. Also watch for the sales flyer's they will most likely run a special for their Christmas trees. You can find your local Lowe's store at 6750 Richmond Highway Alexandria, VA 22306. You can reach them at (703) 765-8030. This Lowe's is open Monday through Saturday 6 am till 10pm and Sunday 8am till 8pm.

Our next stop is Target. Target is a retail store much like Wal-mart. It specializes in a more modern style. This is the perfect place to pick up your table dressings. Spice up your table and dining area with a festive look. Target has a rather nice and still affordable domestic decoration section that always has a little something for the holiday season. They also carry ornaments and tree skirts, stocks and many more holiday items. This is a store that you will want to shop at early as they will be picked over early in the season. They will also run sales and flyer's that you will want to keep an eye on for the very best bargains. Especially their Black Friday sales flier. It usually is loaded with special and unique holiday decor items. You can find your local Target at 3101 Jefferson Davis Highway Alexandria, VA 22305. Contact they at (703) 706-3840. They will be opened this holiday season Monday through Saturday 8am till 11pm and Sunday 8am till 10pm. Black Friday they will have special hours usually opening at 6am.

The third store for your holiday decorations would be Michael's. This is a craft store. They will be caring all the ornamental garland and berries that your heart desires. They also carry just about anything decorative and crafty that you can think of. From that special garland to the artificial flowers for your wreaths. Michael's is the craft store to shop for holiday ornaments and decorations. They also have great sales during the holiday season. They will run crazy sales that might run until midnight or later. They will have flyer's out advertising these sales, but keep your eyes open and check their website often as they are not well advertised events. They have sales where you can take 50% of the entire order. This is a great place to also stock up on any Christmas nick knack as well. You will find your local Michael's at 6330 Seven Corners Shopping Center Falls Church Va 22044. They can be reached at (703) 237-6229.

The fourth place on our list of the top five holiday decoration locations is Wal-mart. If you can find it any were else go to walmart. Walmart seems to carry just about anything. They have great selection of candles and and home decor decorations. They carry a variety of styles do if you are country or modern their should always be something to fit your tastes. Wal-mart is the king of discount stores and very well maybe the best place to do your holiday decoration shopping at as they have the largest selection to choice from and they have everything from indoor to outdoor holiday decorations. Walmart will have the lowest price on most of the items that you will find. So if time is in a pinch choose this as you one stop shop. The other great thing about Walmart is that they are always open 24 hours a day.So no matter when the mood hits you to decorate Walmart will be ready and waiting. You can find a local Wal-mart at 5800 Kingstowne Blvd Alexandria, VA 22315 or contact them for store information at (703) 924-8800.

The final stop is the special store to go to for that perfect ornament for mom or the tree topper that you have always dreamed of. This the Christmas Attic. It is a shop that specializes in Christmas all year long. They are also the perfect Christmas store or decoration store for any one who loves the country theme. This store cares country decor and holiday decor. Have your self a country Christmas here at the Christmas attic. I am not sure if they run sales as I was in in the summer time this past year and there was nothing really going on then. But their selection of ornaments is huge and it would be the perfect place to pick up a special ornament. The Christmas Attic is located at 125 S Union St, Alexandria, VA 22314. Here is the low down on all of your holiday decoration shopping. For that special items head over to the Christmas Attic. For the modern or new age decorations Target may just be the place for you. If you are looking for a crafty style or do it your self decorations check out Michaels. For the smell of real pine and evergreens then head over to Lowe's for fresh wreaths and trees. If you are short on time and money then head over to Walmart where you can find just about anything.
