Top 5 Places to Buy Christmas Tree Ornaments

J Deyoe
If you are like some people, when it comes to shopping for decorations you just walk into the store, go to the Christmas section, grab a box of balls, a couple of strings of lights, some ugly garland, and an angel for the top of your tree. You go home, put the tree in its stand, string the lights across the front of the tree, put on a bunch of balls without paying attention to colors, drape the old nasty gold foil garland around it and grab the poor angel, climb on a ladder and stick the tree branch up her butt, and you are done.

Many others take time choosing the right colors, the right decorations, and the right topper for the tree. Some spend a great deal of time looking for the right ornaments, making sure that they are sturdy, something that you will cherish for a long time. Well at least until next year when you decide to get something new.

For those that are seasoned at this, it is a no brainer to know where to look for decorations. For those of you that want to make a tree special and don't know where to start with ornaments, I have a few hints and pointers for you to check out.

The first place most people go to is Walmart. They are fine, and they do have some pretty balls this year, but they also have more on line that you wont see in store. You can find on line sets for baby girls first tree, baby boys first tree, first Christmas as a couple, and some that are designed to be family heirlooms. For a set of those that you can use as a family heirloom, you will expect to pay about $45. These sets come in padded boxes for keepsakes. This will help ensure that your ornaments will be protected year after year. With free shipping site to store, you can easily order it, have it sent to the store of your choice, and pick it up when you are doing your other shopping.

The first place that came to mind when I wanted to look for something special was at Hallmark. On line at www.hallmark.com, you can find a wide selection of ornaments that are dated. You can easily start a collection and build on it year after year. Angels and Fairies have been a great hit for years, and they have a wide selection of these available both on line and in store. One in particular that I liked was A Wish For Peace. This beautiful ornament is the third in its series. This sells for only $16.50 and is available only in Hallmark Gold Crown stores. This angel is holding a dove.

If you are looking for something from Macy's, you can simply go on line at www.macys.com and find another great selection of ornaments, such as the famous Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2008 ornament, for just $10. You can also find more delicate and meaningful decorations such as the glass Lenox Breast Cancer Ribbon Christmas Ornament. This ornament sells for $29. A great gift you can give to someone that is going through this type of problem, or to show your support for them.

If you are looking on line, stop in at www.christmasplace.com. They have a wide range of decorations and ornaments. This is a great site to go to for ideas and for color schemes. They have many helpful hints on decorating the tree and placement of ornaments and lights. They have so many beautifully crafted ornaments that you could make this a one stop shopping experience. With ornaments ranging from $3 up to $30, you will find something in your budget, that will make your tree stand out from others.

If you are looking for ornaments from Bradford Editions, you will find a wide selection of these at www.bronners.com. This site has only glass ornaments, and they are made with everyone in mind. From sports and hobbies, to children's, family and ethnic to choose from, you will be sure to find what you want here. Prices appear to be quite reasonable, from just a few dollars to about $30 for special ones.
