Top 5 Raw Food Salad Recipes

Raw foodism, or rawism, is lifestyle promoting the consumption primarily of uncooked, unprocessed, and organic foods. The same old salad can get mundane, so here are the five best raw foods salads that I have found. Feel free to experiment, I always do!

Raw Corn Salad
Ingredients:
Kernals from one ear of corn
1/2 red bell pepper, chopped
1/2 yellow bell pepper, chopped
1 large ripe tomato, diced
3 tbs. parsley, minced
1 stalk celery, diced
1/4 cup sweet red onion, chopped
1/4 cup sesame seeds

Directions:
Combine all ingredients in a salad bowl, toss and chill until ready to serve.

Papaya Fruit Salad

1 papaya
6 fresh figs
2 nectarines
1/2 tbs cinnamon
juice of one lemon
1 tbs raw honey

Directions:
Chop all ingredients, toss with cinnamon, lemon and honey, chill and serve.

Mock Halibut Salad

Ingredients:
1 cup each pine and macadamia nuts, soaked in water for 4-6 hours.
1 cup chopped yellow onion
1 cup chopped purple onion
1 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup fresh parsley
2 tbs. dulse flakes
sea salt to taste

Directions:
Drain the nuts and place in the food processor. process until pasty. Put processed nuts in another bowl. Process vegetables until all the pieces are small, then add to the nut mixture. Chill for one hour, then serve with leaf wraps.

Cabbage Vegetable Salad
Ingredients:
Cabbage
baby spinach
radishes
dulse flakes
cumin
tahini
bell peppers
red onion
garlic
pine nuts

Directions:
Chop all vegetables. Toss with spices and nuts, serve.

Salsa Salad

1 bunch cilantro
5-6 Roma tomatoes
1 small yellow or red onion
1 small chili pepper
2 ripe avacados
handful of whole dulse leaf

Directions:
Chop cilantro, dice tomato, onion, finely dice chili pepper, and chop avacado. Tear dulse leaves, and in a bowl, toss everything together.
Note: Sometimes, for a different twist,I like to add sweet corn to this recipe, for a little more crunch and color.
