Two main forms of accommodation in Europe are vacation homes and hotels, and there are significant differences between them. Vacation homes, including villas, townhouses, and condominiums, are usually larger and more spacious, with amenities you usually won't find unless you stay in an expensive hotel. The great thing about this is that European vacation rentals are often a less expensive alternative to hotels that charge more but give you less.
Hotels come in all shapes, sizes and price ranges, but the main thing you have to remember is that for what you spend on a hotel, you can get a villa, apartment, condominium or other vacation home for a similar price or less, and you usually get much more for what you spend. For more ideas and news about European vacation rentals, check out International Travel Communication's local news area for European vacation rentals at RISMedia.com.
A vacation home can be anything from an apartment in Florence to a Castle in Britain and everything in between; they can be the epitome of luxury or the ultimate in rustic living; the beauty is that its all up to you.
Here are the top five reasons you should consider a European vacation rental instead of a hotel:
--Its much more family-friendly. If you bring your family, its much easier to rent a vacation home in Europe rather than a hotel. You can choose how many rooms you want, what amenities you like best, such as a pool or kitchen, and have a completely customized trip that is highly conducive to spending time together as a family and feeling like you're in a home away from home.
-- You'll pay less for a European vacation rental more often than not as it can be far less expensive than a hotel. For what you pay for a good or even average hotel in many of Europe's cities, you can get a beautiful vacation home for far less.
--You're able to get to know local culture better. If you stay in a hotel, you're much further removed from the culture you've come to visit. By renting a European vacation home, you often get a better sense of culture and environment than you would otherwise. Local proprietors are often able to point out the little known and best spots for dining, exploration and entertainment and generally give you some really handy information and advice about the area.
--Location, location location. While you may be hard-pressed to find a hotel in many, less tourist-oriented parts of Europe, you'll almost always be able to find a European vacation home, whether its a small stone cottage on Scotland's rocky coast or an elegant, five bedroom house in the Swiss Alps. Blog networks like Itcinterhome.com are also really good for finding location and area information.
-- With a European vacation rental, what you get is what you want. Your living experience is completely customizable and up to you. Find a reputable European vacation rental accommodations agency, such as Interhome.us, and they can tell you all your options. You can specify the type of home you're looking for, the amenities you want, the area (s) you want to be in and much more.
Ultimately, the beauty of a European vacation rental is that you will get exactly what you've dreamed of, when you want it, at the right price, for all the reasons above.

Excellent reasons. I hope to travel to Europe someday and will keep this is mind.
I've stayed in many vacation rentals in the states and have always enjoyed the luxury of having a kitchen and a bit more room to spread out. You often get to get away from the tourist zones too.
