Top 5 Religious Gifts for Men This Christmas

Rochelle Connery
Are you looking for the perfect religious gifts for the man in your life this Christmas? Here's some great ways to make his Christmas with inspirational, motivating, and thought-provoking gifts unlike your usual ho-hum fluffy stuff.

One: Frank Peretti Novel

Most every Christian guy I've talked to likes Frank Peretti. From books like The Prophet to Monster and The Visitation, Frank Peretti provides readers the right way to read rather dark materials. These three are some of my favorites, but other Peretti hits include The Oath, This Present Darkness, and Piercing the Darkness.

Two: Men's Study Bible

Some guys want a little more explanation than just your typical hand-on-a-Bible-in-court-style Holy Bible. Get him a study Bible in a KJV or NKJV translation (I'm not as fond of paraphrased Bibles or NIV), and he's sure to be more likely to read it each morning than he would be otherwise.

Three: Christian Movies (not the cheesy ones)

I'm not a big fan of the corny so-called Christian movies at your typical church library. But there are a couple I'd like to recommend that are thought-provoking, ones I've heard from other guys that they like. They're both films by professionals starring real actors, not just the director's family members. The first one is one I've seen and enjoyed, called The Visitation, starring Kelly Lynch (Curly Sue,Charlie's Angels) and Martin Donovan (The Sentinel, Weeds, Agent Cody Banks). It was made directly from Frank Peretti's novel, and is about overcoming demon possession. It was almost chilling.

The second is Luther, which I actually have not seen, but it came highly recommended to me from another Christian guy. This one stars Joseph Fiennes and Alfred Molina.

I've seen another Frank Peretti/Ted Dekker novel in movie form, House, which wasn't bad, but wasn't really all that Christian, if that's what you were looking for.

Four: Christian Apparel with a Message

I have some friends (and family members) that like to wear sweatshirts, hats, and T-shirts with catchy Christian sayings. One of their favorites is a black sweatshirt with drumsticks in the shape of a cross, with the tagline, "Stick with Jesus." There's also ones that look like Abercrombie and Fitch T-shirts with fun sayings that you can usually get at Christian stores or Amazon.

Five: Men's Titanium Cross Ring

Great for a husband, son, or fiancée, a titanium cross ring is a cool reminder of the person who gave it to them. Classier than a WWJD bracelet or something like that, a ring is something they can keep just about forever.

I think I've read a couple of those Peretti novels. Another great list.
