Top 5 RPG Titles for XBox 360

Rock One
Even though it doesn't get much credit for it, the XBox 360 is a very RPG-heavy system. Personally, it is my favorite genre. Thus, I have outlined five must-own titles for the system that everyone who shares my love of role-players should give a chance.

# 5 - The Last Remnant

In what was the first game by Square Enix to use the Unreal 3 engine, The Last Remnant is a good game for anyone that enjoys a turn-based RPG. Vaguely reminiscent of the Final Fantasy or Fire Emblem series, it is a great strategy role-player, even if to kill some time while waiting for the top 4.

# 4 - Mass Effect

If you liked Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic for the original XBox, this one is for you. It gives you all the elements that were missing in KOTOR, and with exponentially better graphics and mechanics. It has all the stuff that a great RPG is made of. Also, it's one of the few role-players I have seen to successfully incorporate the use of guns into its combat system. It's an oldie but a goodie. Do yourself a favor and pick it up.

# 3 - Fable 2

There are a lot of elements that we've all come to expect in a typical medieval RPG, and Fable 2 gives you most of these. However, it's the non-typical elements that won me over on this game. What other games give you the option to settle down with a wife and kids? What other games give you the option to have a wife at all? Even if you don't want a wife, what other games give you the option to have a drunken orgy in your bedroom while half the town watches? While this game is good for an endless number of laughs, the imagination behind it is what makes it my number 3 pick. The only reason I didn't rank it higher is because it although gave us so many of the novelty features we've all wanted to see, I felt like it left out too many of the normal ones. Nevertheless, it's a great game, and you should definitely pick it up.

# 2 - The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is everything that you've ever wanted in a medieval RPG. Even if you do no side quests, there is enough of a storyline to keep you going for an entire work week before you get through the whole thing. However, after playing for more than ten minutes, you will realize that there is no way you'll be able to resist the call of all the side quests and storylines in this game. The map the game takes place in is gigantic, and the possibilites of weapons and magic are countless. If that's not enough, you can even ride horses. While this is a fairly old game, the graphics are mind-boggling for its era. The audio is just as good; I'm not even kidding when I tell you that a friend of mine has every track from this game on his phone as ringtones. This is one of my favorite games of all time, and I wanted to give it number 1, but...

# 1 - Fallout 3

Developed and published by Bethesda, the same masterminds behind The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, Fallout 3 is what I would describe as the epitome of an RPG. Set in a post-nuclear fallout version of Washington, D.C., you must leave the safety of your underground vault in search of your father. You have the power to become the hero of the wastes, saving the innocent and ridding the world of the corrupt and violent people who have taken advantage of the country's state of disarray. Or, you could do just the opposite. It's all up to you. It's the fact that Fallout 3 is newer than Oblivion, and thus graphically and conceptually superior that made me pick Fallout 3 as number 1. I firmly believe that it is the best RPG to ever hit the system.

Thanks for the list. I've been thinking of getting Fable II or Fallout 3. Guess I'll go with Fallout.
