Top 5 Scary DVD's to Watch when Traveling

The Last Ronin
A road trip can really be a drag if you don't have something to do to keep you occupied. With the invention of portable dvd players you can now take your favorite movies along and the trip will just fly by. There are hundreds of movies that would be great for a road trip, but I'm going to focus on the top 5 scary movies. I guarantee that after watching them you won't be interested in a road trip any time in the near future.

The Hills Have Eyes (2006): An American family is traveling across the country and winds up stranded in the desert. This tale gets worse when they fall prey to a group of inbred, mutant, psychos who are bound and determined to kill them all. This gory movie is a wonderful remake that will truly make you think twice about family vacations.

Texas Chainsaw Massacre (2003): This movie is a remake of a 70's movie with the same name. When a group of teens is traveling cross country to a concert that pick up a stranger. Tragic events lead them to a little town and some crazy stuff starts to happen. Sadly I must say that there is plenty of blood and gore and one sick dude named Leather Face. Thinking about traveling? Think twice!

The Hitcher (2007): Momma always said, "Don't pick up hitch hikers," and this movie depicts why you should listen to her. Sean Bean's character is one sick man, who is hell bent on wreaking as much destruction as he can. When a couple of college students are traveling home they pick up a hitch hiker, who tries to kill them. When he fails the first time he continues to stalk them and frame them for various other murders. This is a great movie and definitely road trip material.

Wrong Turn (2003): This move starring Eliza Dushku wasn't a big budget film, but it was definitely a good one. When a small group of people wind up on the back roads of West Virginia they run into some inbred mountain men looking for their next meal. This thriller is an exciting move that will capture your attention from start to finish.

The Shining (1997): This remake of the 1980's Stanley Kubrick movie is amazing. While the original was pretty scary, I'm more fond of this version. When this couple decides to care for a hotel during the off season the ghosts come out and wreak havoc. While isolated the dad goes crazy and almost kills his family. If you want a good scare then make sure to pick this one up.

Sure these movies aren't your typical road trip flick, but they will definitely keep you interested and alert. If you are looking for a movie that is off the beaten path then pick one of these up.
