Top 5 SNL Current Characters and Skits that Could Be Movies

When it seemed like SNL movies were done and over with, MacGruber saved the day. Now everyone is wondering what could be the next big movie based on an SNL skit or character. Here is my list of the top 5 skits/characters that could be transformed into movies. Take into consideration that all of the short skits would need a detailed background to have even a shot at making sense in a movie and I am not implying that the current skit is ready to be put on film for an hour and a half.

#5. Penelope/Gilly
Both characters of Kristen Wiig, Penelope and/or Gilly tie for fifth on the list. Penelope is my favorite of the two, a woman who is constantly bettering the comments of other people at different engagements. Gilly is a mischievous youth who is constantly getting into trouble in school in comical situations. Either character would need a lot of development to be bearable in a movie.

#4. Blizzard Man
Andy Samberg's portrayal of a rapper who has convinced a promoter and his agent of extreme talent, but instead is a complete and utter mess when in front of a microphone. A mockumentary would fit this character quite well in a straight to DVD movie.

#3. Scared Straight Program
Kenan Thompson plays Lorenzo MacIntosh (or McIntosh), a prison inmate who teams up with another inmate to scare young juvenile's who have recently committed a petty crime. A look in depth at a scared straight program in a comedy that features Thompson as MacIntosh could work.

#2. Two A Holes
Jason Sudeikis and Kristen Wiig play very convincing "A Holes" in sketches involving the couple in common situations including; at an adoption agency, buying a Christmas tree, at a crime scene, and at a nativity scene. I have no clue of a plot that would warrant the "A Holes" being present for more than an hour, but it would be entertaining and potentially hilarious.

#1. Laser Cats
Definitely the most movie worthy and movie ready reoccurring skit. Laser Cat skits have come via SNL Digital Shorts with Andy Samberg and Bill Hader. The 5 Laser Cat skits are low budget and hilarious. This is the only one on the list I actually expect to turn into a movie, and success could be obtained. There is nothing better than a terrible plot, purposely bad acting, cheesy special effects, cats, and lasers.
