Top 5 Street Fighter Characters

With the continued success of Streey Fighter 4 (the 3DS post is easily one of the best hand held fighters ever), I can't help but reminisce favorite moments from earlier games in this franchise. The Barrel game from SFII, Alpha 3's special pre-fight intro between Sagat & Adon, and Akuma's ambush from Super Turbo are a few of my favorites. It's the personalities that made this series a success for Capcom. Here are my top 5 Street Fighter characters.

Top 5 Street Fighters: Balrog.
Street Fighter's residential boxer was originally loosely based on Mike Tyson. His portrait from the Street Fighter II series resembles the man, pre face tattoo era. Their back stories differ quite a bit though. Mike went to prison, tried to Bite Holyfield's upper torso off, and had a failed marriage with Robin Givens. Balrog punched one of Dhalsim's elephants, and ended up killing the poor thing in the process. I'd say the level of violence is only slightly different between the two. I'm impressed with his power, but the act it's self is disturbing(or would be, if a real person were able to do it with one punch.)

Top 5 Street Fighters: Chun-Li.
Chun-Li has a very impressive set of ham hocks, masquerading as thighs. If this list were based on fighting techniques and strategies one can use to gain the upper hand with certain characters, she'd probably be ranked second on my list. This list is based strictly off noticeable character traits, and there's nothing more noticeable than Chun's legs when executing the Spinning bird kick, and Hyakuretsu Kyaku(which I believe translates to "look at me! look at me! weee!"). She's the greatest fictional woman of all time.

Top 5 Street Fighters: Charlie.
Charlie is to Street Fighter, as Kenny McCormick is to South Park. What I mean by that is they both have died a lot. Charlie has died in the Alpha series of games, Udon's Street Fighter comic series, and even the non-canon dream match game, Marvel Vs. Street Fighter. You know how hard it is, for me as a fan of this character, to get excited about his potential appearance in newer Street Fighter titles? He's like a cooler looking version of Guile, but is hindered by the never ending running gag of being fatally accident prone.

Top 5 Street Fighters: Twelve.
With the ability to transform himself into an imperfect copy of whomever he's facing at the time, Twelve ranks number two on this lighthearted farce of a list.His X.C.O.P.Y. Super Art is really the only reason I kinda sorta like his appearance in Street Fighter III: Third Strike. Twelve makes the impending fight against Gill slightly less annoying than it normally is, because you can mimic his cheapness and use it against him.

Top 5 Street Fighters: Ryu.
Ryu is a legend in the realm of fighting games. He is the personification of bland karate guy, wearing a gi. Ryu's back story says he's a wandering warrior who only wishes to challenge other strong fighters and perfect his style. No where do it imply that he's ever tried to get a date with Rose, Cammy or even Chun-Li. I have to respect Ryu's abstinence. He's got a much stronger will than I, that much is sure.
