5. Twilight - Stephenie Meyer
I bet a good fair share of people have actually read this one. Then there are those people who will roll their eyes and immediately skip down to book number 4. I have read this book, as well as the rest of the Twilight saga, which in my opinion could've been more up to par. Twilight is by far the best novel in the series and it is packed with undying love between a one hundred year old vampire and a quiet teenage girl from Washington. Not only do you get the vampire/mortal romance but you also get some chases and action. This is a two in one deal.
4. Wuthering Heights - Emily Bronte
If you haven't already read this classic then you better pick it up before your high school English teacher rolls over in his grave. This book goes through a few generations of characters. It begins with Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff in their younger years. The novel progresses and goes through all of the difficult times and fleshes out this couple's never ending love for each other. Yes, it might get drawn out in some areas but I think the catchy story lines make up for it.
3. On Love and Friendship - Ralph Waldo Emerson
Okay, so this might not actually be a novel per se but Ralph Waldo Emerson was a masterful man and transcendentalist and his thoughts on every issue can make you really start to think deep for the rest of the day. I have read some of Emerson's other works like Self-Reliance and Nature and they have all been quite good reads. Trust me, you won't be disappointed with this one.
2. The Time Traveler's Wife - Audrey Niffenegger
Here's another package deal. You get a twist of science fiction thrown in with the romance. Who doesn't love the idea of time traveling? I am sure that everybody has thought about at some point in their loves. This novel explains a man's life and his recurring problem with time traveling. He does what ever he can though to try and see his wife.
1. The Claiming of Sleeping Beauty - Anne Rice
I really almost didn't put this on the list but it is a romance novel and some people are looking for a little more in their romance novels. Here's a piece of erotica that isn't too disgusting, and has the bits of romance that everyone loves. This follows a different story about Sleeping Beauty. She is awoken and taken as a slave to a Prince's castle. There she finds another Prince that she begins to love, prince Alexi. This read is only for people 18 and older because it is graphic. For those of you not into erotica, stick to the top four.
