Top 5 Summer Sunscreens

Danruo Wang
This summer is going to be a hot one. With temperatures well above the 80s and 90s it is important to remember to slap on that sunscreen. Sunscreen should always be put on before going outside as it can prevent many forms of skin diseases, including skin cancer. Also, remember to put them on your kids before they go to school, the beach, outside, etc.

With so many brands of sunscreens to choose from, here are the best five to protect your skin this summer.

1. Clinique Sun SPF 20 Spray

One of my favorite brands is Clinique. This is spray product that works 360 degrees so you won't have to rub it in with your hands. It protects you from both UVA and UVB rays and is only twenty dollars. Clinique is a world-renowned brand for skincare and cosmetics, it is only logical that their sun protection products are of high quality as well. At twenty dollar a bottle, this is an investment you need to make for your skin.

You can find this at your department store or Sephora.

2. Murad Waterproof Sunblock SPF 30

For those of us who have sensitive skin, this is the sunscreen to get. Murad is also world renowned, but mainly because of their use of organic and other natural ingredients. Users who have used Murad claim that they do not break out, due to the non-greasy formula, and that they have even seen improvements in their skin tone. The only major con that I would say is that it is a lotion and you actually have to take the time to rub it in. However, there is no smell and is hypoallergenic.

This is a little bit more on the expensive [thirty dollars] side but is definitely a winner.

You can find this at your department store or Sephora.

3. Peter Thomas Roth Ultra Lite Oil Free Sunblock

If you wear a lot of makeup, this is a good product for you. Use this under your make for an entire day of face protection. This product is the most lightweight out of the bunch and provides both UVA and UVB protection. It does not give you breakouts, zits, or rashes and is highly recommended by dermatologists. This product is also one that you must rub in.

At around 26 dollars, you can find this at your department store or Sephora.

4. Lancôme Soleil Ultra Expert Sun Care-SPF 50 Sunscreen Face and Body Lotion for Sensitive Skin

This product is recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation because of its powerful protection against UVA and UVB rays. However, this product promises more. Because Lancôme is a skin care line you can definitely count on it for other purposes. It promises Hydration to moisturize your skin so you definitely won't burn out. It promises firmness which boosts up your skin's elasticity so you have a toned body, always. It is the most expensive at around thirty five dollars, but if sun protection is on your mind all the time, calm you skin and your worries with this product.

You can find this product at your department store or Sephora.

5. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Body Mist

This body mist is available for around ten dollars and can be purchased for up to SPF 70. This is another spray so you don't have to get your hands dirty. There is no smell and the nozzle works up side down. If you are pale skinned, I suggest you buy around SPF 50 to SPF 70 because this product really prevents your skin from burning. The spray goes on; your body absorbs it, and leaves you protected with a non-greasy finish. Best of all, there is NO smell.

You can easily find this at your local drugstore.

Wherever you are and wherever you go, remember that in the long run, your skin is one of the most important things. Always protect it.
