Top 5 Things to Do for Anti-Valentine's Day in Las Vegas

Gwen Navarrete
Valentine, schmalentine! You're in Vegas to party, not spend the day on some schmaltzy holiday! For all you single or non-sentimental types, here are some fun Anti-Valentine's Day things to do in Las Vegas:

Top Things to Do for Anti-Valentine's Day in Las Vegas #1: Shoot something

I stole this idea from my friend Heidi Keller Rosen, President and Founder of Get Out! Las Vegas, a premier social group for local singles. The group holds an Anti-Valentine's Day bash every year, with some events held at the local gun range. As their website says, "We're going to the gun range for a little Cupid target practice. You can introduce him to your 'leeetle friend'. HAHA!"

While the event if only open to Get Out members (see their website to fill out an interest form), visitors to Las Vegas can still engage in their own "Cupid is Stupid" campaign in a safe, controlled, and legal environment. (Disclaimer: Under no circumstances should you attempt this on your own outside the gun range. You will get arrested.)

Two popular gun ranges in town are The Gun Store, located at 2900 East Tropicana, and the Las Vegas Gun Range & Firearm Center, located at 4610 Blue Diamond Road. Both locations are about a 10-minute drive from the Strip. For pricing and hours, visit their websites.

Top Things to Do for Anti-Valentine's Day in Las Vegas #2: Go to a Bash

McFadden's Restaurant & Saloon at the Rio will host an Anti-Valentine's Day Masquerade Bash on Saturday, February 13 with an open bar from 11p.m. - 1a.m. Cover charge is $10.00 for ladies and $20.00 for gentlemen. So grab a bunch of your single friends and head over to this popular hangout for the evening. Make sure you wear a mask because prizes will be awarded for the best one!

And throughout Valentine's Day weekend, the Rockhouse Bar & Nightclub at Imperial Palace is hosting a "Don't Bring Your Boyfriend to Our Bar" event. All unescorted ladies will be given free cover, two-for-one well drinks, and $5.00 money shots from 10p.m. until closing. So guys, if you want to know where the unattached ladies are, it's a good bet they'll be at Rockhouse.

Another great place to find single guys and gals is at Stoney's Rockin' Country Bar located south of the Strip on Las Vegas Boulevard. A favorite local hangout for people of all cultures and ages, ladies drink free on Thursdays and Sundays. The cover charge is just $5.00 for locals and $10.00 for visitors. There's a special every weekend, and if you show up early Thursday - Saturday you can learn a couple of line dances. Stoney's plays music from all genres, with pool tables and a bowling alley to provide a break from the constant party on the dance floor. Take it from one who's been there several times, this is not your typical country bar.

Top Things to Do for Anti-Valentine's Day in Las Vegas #3: Ex-orcise your heart

Here's a sweet way to get revenge on an ex without causing any real damage. (Remember, the point is to have a good time, not to get arrested.) Bar Louie Tavern & Grill is hosting a Shred Your Ex event all day on February 14th. Bring in a picture of your ex and feel the cathartic release of watching their picture get shredded.

If you don't have an ex, or just want to spend time with a friend, you can still go to Bar Louie for their 2-for-1 brunch special until 3p.m. on Valentine's Day.

Top Things to Do for Anti-Valentine's Day in Las Vegas #4: Indulge in some eye candy

What better way to celebrate being single or unattached than to watch an adult revue? While Las Vegas is famous for this type of adult entertainment, two of the best shows I've seen are Thunder from Down Under at the Excalibur and Fantasy at the Luxor. Both shows are risqué without being overt, well produced, and highly entertaining.

Both shows hold performances throughout Valentine's Day weekend, with Fantasy offering two Valentine's Day packages starting at $160 per couple. Package includes dinner for two, two tickets, and two 10th anniversary Fantasy photo books. For reservations call (702) 262-4400.

Top Things to Do for Anti-Valentine's Day in Las Vegas #5: Love thyself

There's never a bad time to pamper yourself, so have an Anti-Valentine's Day with a self-imposed retreat at the Spa. In partnership with Go Red for Women and the American Heart Association, the Spa at Trump Las Vegas promotes a Healing Hearts Go Red package. For $199 + a minimum $25 donation to help women fight heart disease, this special package includes a 40 minute pedicure, 40 minute facial, 40 minute massage, 25 minute scalp massage, and a take home gift. The package is valid for the entire month of February except February 13 - 14, but that shouldn't matter because you're anti-Valentine's Day anyway.

For a spa that offers comprehensive packages for both men and women, try the spa at the Four Seasons hotel. Their wide array of available treatments should make any spa junkie happy.

Haaa Gwen, this was a very funny article, quirky and I've never even heard of Anti-Valentine's Day! My lifetime best friend lives very close to Vegas (for many years) and we've both been divorced several times each, and still I'd not heard of this funny city-wide event!

LOL, of course it didn't! Call it poetic license - it's my last Valentine's article of the year. Not very journalistic, I know, but couldn't help it.

Schmalentine made it thru spellcheck? Congratulations, lol !!!
