Top 5 Things to Do for Easter in Las Vegas: Worship
Above all, Easter is a religious holiday for many people and many churches will hold special celebrations on Easter Sunday. Among the churches celebrating the holiday is the Church of Scientology and Celebrity Centre Las Vegas. From 10:30am to 1:00pm, the church will host Sunday services, Easter Brunch, and an Easter egg hunt. There is no admission fee for the service, but there is a $10.00 fee for their 1:30pm seminar on Children. The fee includes a copy of the booklet "Children" from the Scientology Handbook based on the works of L. Ron Hubbard. For more information, visit the Church of Scientology website.
The Roman Catholic, Mormon, and other Christian churches will also celebrate Easter Sunday with special services. For more information on these places of worship, see the article Easter Church Services in Las Vegas.
Top 5 Things to Do for Easter in Las Vegas: Brunch
For as long as I can remember, my family has gone to Easter Sunday Mass and then followed it with a ridiculous feast called Easter Brunch. It was an opportunity for us to spend time with family and immediately partake of any goodies we gave up during Lent.
Las Vegas has no shortage of restaurants in which to gorge ourselves on a daily basis, but I do have some favorites for the Easter holiday. To read more about my picks for Easter Brunch, read the Top 5 Easter Brunch Restaurants in Las Vegas.
Top 5 Things to Do for Easter in Las Vegas: Easter Egg Hunt and Picnics
While I don't have children, I have the privilege of "borrowing" friends' kids for fun activities like Easter Egg Hunts. There are several organizations which host Easter Egg hunts in Las Vegas every year, including churches, schools, and charities. For my picks of regular events, read the Top 5 Annual Easter Egg Hunts in Las Vegas.
If you want to create your own Easter Egg Hunt but don't have space in your backyard, Las Vegas has multiple parks dotted throughout the city for you to use. Large parties should make reservations by calling the Clark County Parks & Recreation department. Remember to follow park rules during your picnic.
Top 5 Things to Do for Easter in Las Vegas: Volunteer
While many people donate their time during the Christmas holidays, there is just as great a need to help the unfortunate during Easter. Every year, Catholic Charities and other organizations host Easter basket drives for underprivileged and disadvantaged children in Las Vegas who otherwise might not receive the same goodies other children do.
Another volunteer opportunity on Easter Sunday is to serve meals to the homeless at either the St. Vincent Lied Dining Facility, also run by Catholic Charities, or the Las Vegas Rescue Mission. Call at least three weeks in advance to register to volunteer.
Top 5 Things to Do for Easter in Las Vegas: Library Events
Times are tough, and the library is a nice, low-cost way to celebrate Easter. Several worship services, cultural events, and special storytimes are planned throughout the weekend.
This year's events include a production of Drama de la Pasión: Jesús de Nazaret on April 3rd at 6:30pm at the Clark County Library on E. Flamingo Road. This Spanish language production of the Passion Play tells the story of Jesus' crucifixion and Resurrection.
Easter events change every year. For a complete list of all library events, visit the Clark County Library District website.
Top 5 Things to Do for Easter in Las Vegas: Final Thoughts
There are many ways to celebrate Easter in Las Vegas. I wish everyone a safe and blessed holiday.
