Top 5 Things to Do in Las Vegas on Valentine's Day #1: Travel the World
Las Vegas made its claim to fame by bringing the rest of the world to America, evoking some of the most romantically spectacular images along the Las Vegas Strip. Some of the more romantic things you can do are:
• Watch the dancing Fountains of Bellagio, a free show that occurs every 15 to 30 minutes on most days. As a local, I never get tired of seeing choreographed water works set to classic music. Expect special performances on Valentine's Day, but stake out your spot early for the best view. For full effect, go to the center of the walkway in front of the hotel.
• Ride the elevator to the top of the Eiffel Tower at Paris Las Vegas, where you can get a panoramic view of the Bellagio fountains across the street. Regular tickets are $10 until 7:15 p.m. and $15 after 7:30 p.m. Valentine's Day packages for the Eiffel Tower Experience vary from year to year, but usually include tickets for two, two glasses of wine and a souvenir photo. For details call the Eiffel Tower Box Office from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 a.m. every day or call 1-888-727-4758.
• Take a serenaded Gondola Ride at the Venetian. Choose between the indoor canal surrounded by shops or the outdoor canal in front of the hotel. Gondola rides are $16 per person or $64 for private two-passenger rides. Make same-day reservations early due to the holiday.
Top 5 Things to Do in Las Vegas on Valentine's Day #2: Dinner and a Show
Las Vegas hotels start promoting Valentine's Day show packages about two weeks before the holiday, however the following shows should inspire some ideas:
• Celebrate Valentine's Day by watching Zumanity, the "sensual side of Cirque du Soleil", at the New York New York. For the ultimate couple experience, watch the show from a duo sofa, which are $129 per ticket and sold in pairs. Show times are 7:30pm and 10:30pm every night except Mondays and Thursdays. You can also take advantage of their Zumanity dinner show packages, which start at $95. Call 866-606-7111 for Valentine's Day pricing.
• For comedy seekers, Defending the Caveman at the Excalibur takes a humorous look at the differences between men and women. The show's star, Kevin Burke, is a licensed minister who officiated a wedding immediately after last year's Valentine's Day performance. Tickets to the daily 3pm show start at $34.95. For dinner, take advantage of the $29 all-day-all-you-can-eat buffet at the Excalibur.
Make sure to book all Valentine's Day reservations for dinner and a show as soon as you book your hotel reservations. For additional Valentine's Day dinner recommendations in Las Vegas, check out these articles from AC Contributors Rae Lynne Morvay and Drew Bush.
Top 5 Things to Do in Las Vegas on Valentine's Day #3: Propose
Guys (or gals!) who want to pop the big question on Valentine's Day can choose any of the spots already mentioned. To achieve the ultimate wow factor, seek assistance from the hotel concierge in planning your special moment.
The Eiffel Tower Experience will even rent out their entire venue for one hour so you can propose in full privacy. Want even more? The staff can provide you with roses, champagne, or musicians. Call 702-946-7000 for arrangements and pricing details.
For other proposal locations, check out this article from AC Contributor Margaret Kerr, who received her own proposal right here in Las Vegas.
Top 5 Things to Do in Las Vegas on Valentine's Day #4: Get Married or Get Married Again
With a wedding chapel in every hotel, Las Vegas truly is the wedding capital of the world. If you have your heart set on getting married on Valentine's Day in Las Vegas, remember that it is still a legal ceremony that requires several documents. Marriage licenses can be obtained from the Clark County Marriage Services Division until midnight every day. Visit their website for a full listing on required information to obtain a license.
Hotel concierges and wedding coordinators might be able to give you some insight and assistance in obtaining a marriage license. All hotels have wedding packages year-round, and some offer special packages for Valentine's Day. One recent article listing the best wedding packages in Las Vegas comes from AC Contributor Cynthia Ann.
If you're already married, why not get married again? Las Vegas wedding chapels also offer packages for vow renewals, so make Valentine's Day extra special by renewing your commitment for one another.
One word of advice: Valentine's Day is obviously a very popular day to get married, so make your arrangements early. And don't be afraid to consult some of the smaller wedding chapels on the Strip, as they can save you both time and money.
Top 5 Things to Do in Las Vegas on Valentine's Day #5: Be Single, Be Happy!
If you're single, Valentine's Day in Las Vegas is not a singularly couple's event. In fact, it's a good way to go out and meet new people! Most of the nightclubs will have Valentine's Day parties, and some will even host un-Valentine's Day parties exclusively for singles.
The best promotion I've come across for singles is the Girls' Getaway Package and the Boys' Night Out Package at the Excalibur Hotel. For around $200 a night, up to four people can stay in a room and receive the following: discount tickets to either Thunder from Down Under male revue (for the ladies) or Fantasy adult revue at the Luxor (for the gentlemen), $50 beverage credit at the Octane Bar, $50 in Party Pit gaming chips for $40, free VIP admission to the LAX Nightclub at the Luxor, 10% off a weekday poolside cabana rental, free VIP admission to the Cathouse nightclub at the Luxor, and up to $150 bottle service discount at Cathouse.
Excalibur and Luxor remain some of the more reasonably priced hotels on the Strip, and both the Thunder and Fantasy shows are well produced and highly entertaining. So grab some of your single friends and create some good times this Valentine's Day!
Top 5 Things to Do in Las Vegas on Valentine's Day: Final Thoughts
Please note that Valentine's Day packages in Las Vegas are subject to last-minute additions, changes, or cancellations. Always call the hotel a couple of days before your trip to confirm your arrangements.
Overall, Valentine's Day in Las Vegas makes a great celebration whether you're single or married, a tourist or a resident. Come check us out and we'll paint the town red! Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!

Post a CommentDear Duh! (Guest): I truly appreciate your feedback, and respectfully point out that the title of the article is "Top 5 Things to Do", not "Top 5 New Things to Do". For unique things to do, please check out the "Top 5 Unique Dates for Valentine's Day in Las Vegas". Thanks! :-)
This is the most obvious list I have ever seen. Anyone who has been to Vegas once has done all of this stuff save perhaps getting married. I won't be using this this weekend at all.
Girl, no wonder! This article is perfect for Valentine's Day. You'll get a lot of page views on it for sure. Tweet!
Great list. It is amazing how many things there are to do in Vegas.
Sounds like a lot of fun.
Great information would be fun holiday with all this to do :)
Sounds like a fun time. I have been to Vegas several times and have yet to go up in the Eifel Tower. We will have to do that next time. We did the gondala ride at the Belagio, I love the Belagio.
LOL, thanks, Mike. I would love to be a travel writer. Too bad I don't travel very well!
@Emmylou, I know, way too soon.
Gwen, you are so modest. Part of the Top Five list should have been "Dinner with Gwen" although your significant "O" probably wouldn't much like that, ha ha ....... for real though, articles you do on travel are so much more friendly and thorough than the ones I see while sitting in office waiting areas. I'm not a traveler but I have three buddies who go out there all of the time and I definitely will refer them to this. Thanx. ~~ mike ~~
Valentine's Day coming too soon.
