Small Towns Have Some of the Best Treasures!

Lincolnton, North Carolina can be considered to be one of those small towns that many a passer-through deems as barely even on the map. But to those who know this quaint little Carolina town, it has many hidden treasures worthy of your attention. So, just where do you look?

Start off with the Lincoln County Historical Association and Arts Council, located at 403 East Main Street. It's here where you can discover your own roots or those who live in the area by examining the nicely put together genealogy room, or check out the beautiful art exhibit in the Cultural Center with quite a bit of interesting local art. I was pleasantly surprised at the cultural influences, including Indian and so forth, that were reflected in the pieces. You can visit their website at lincolncountyhistory.com.

Next, why not stop by the Flea Market where one man's trash becomes another man's treasure. It's here where you can find a lot of interesting people and a many more interesting finds including local creations and vintage pieces. Located at 610 Wilma Sigmon Road. Check out their website at LincolntonFleaMarket.com. They're open Saturdays and Sundays bright and early at 7:00 a.m.

Third on the list, do a nice little wine tasting at Southern Charm Winery. They have twenty different wines that are handcrafted with the finest ingredients, and you're sure to enjoy yourself if not find your new favorite wine! Visit their website at southerncharmwinery.com. They're located at 235-D East Main Street.

Fourth, you can't forget about the Marcia H. Cloninger Rail Trail where you can enjoy a mile's worth of beautiful downtown walking with pretty sights - beautiful landscaping, quaint benches, all the way from East Pine Street to Motz Avenue. Make sure to read the signs along the way to fully enjoy your journey!

And last but not least on the list, you've got to check out the local Farmer's Market at 225 West Water Street, open Saturdays during April through November, and Tuesdays and Thursdays during the months of June through November. Get up nice and early at 7:00 a.m. when they open and enjoy local produce, flowers, and other wonderful items. Personally, I found the local honeys to be exceptional tasting and exceptionally priced for such a treasure!
