Just Ducky - Take a ninety minute tour of the Nokomis are an an amphibious vehicle. You will travel down the streets of Nokomis past Casey Key Beach and toward Venice. While you "drive" through the shallow waters of Casey Key and the Intracoastal Waterway be watchful for manatee and dolphin sightings. You enter the water via an old railroad station as the driver points out historical landmarks and natural attractions.
Nokomis Groves - Bite into succulent fresh fruit and homemade ice cream. Since 1948 the groves have been a popular stop for both visitors and Nokomis residents. Instead of taking a cheap souvenir t-shirt back for loved ones, select something form the old fashioned country store. Browse the shelves full of jellies and candies made from locally grown ingredients while sipping on a complimentary glass of orange juice. Nokomis Groves is well known around the region for the for double-dipped orange ice cream cones.
Nokomis Beach - Stretch out and soak up the serenity of the waves breaking against the shore. Nokomis Beach, located on Casey Key encompasses 22 acres of oceanfront and borders the Intrecoastal Waterway. Stretch your legs on the Casey Key boardwalk and deck. Cast a line or just find a vantage spot at the end of the pier to watch for dolphins playing in the surf. The best time for dolphin viewing is from 4 pm to 5 pm. Additional beach amenities include a concession stand, picnic pavilion, shelter house, dune walkover area and rest rooms. Every Saturday at sunset a drum circles forms on the beach attracting crowds of 200 people and various dancers and performers.
North Jetty - Arrive before the lunch rush and get at the front of the line for the tastiest hot dogs in Florida. The big beef dogs are a meal in themselves and require special extra-large buns. The North Jetty is a utopia for angers. Although the fishing pier make look comfortable sand covered, make sure to wear shoes - or risk stepping on a fishing hook. Pack a nylon chair and spend a little time at the wide opening at the end of the pier to glimpse small hammer-head sharks or dolphins. The North Jetty picnic area gets crowded at sunset. Stake your claim to a table at least a half and hour before sundown if you're planning a romantic picnic.
