Top 5 Vampire Movies of All Time

Rex Banner
Ever since Bram Stoker penned Dracula in 1897, vampires have been part of our entertainment. Even Sesame Street has a blood sucking puppet to help children learn to count. The Twilight and True Blood series are the most current additions, and show the staying power of these fanged immortals in our popular culture. Over the years, Hollywood and movie studios around the world have made dozens of vampire movies. The following are my top five vampire movies of all time. They are listed in chronological order. Enjoy one or all of these this Halloween. Be sure to click on the blue links for further information on the movie. If you have not seen the movie you are interested in, be careful not to click on the plot details if you do not want it to be spoiled.

Fright Night (1985)

This vampire movie is about a teenager who learns his next door neighbor is a vampire. The problem is, no one believes him. A classic mid-1980s movie, this one offers a blast from the past.

The Lost Boys (1987)

A young Kiefer Sutherland stars in this vampire movie. After a mother moves her son in with their grandpa, they fear the town is overrun with vampires. I have seen this one more than any of the others. Follow this link to see the trailer.

Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992)

Francis Ford Coppola's version of the classic novel won three Oscars. In this one, a vampire travels to London in search of a woman and blood. This is my personal favorite, and offers all the classic vampire action you are looking for in a movie. Click here to watch the trailer.

Interview with the Vampire: The Vampire Chronicles (1994)

Brad Pitt, Christian Slater and Tom Cruise have starring roles. A vampire tells his life story in this movie. This is definitely a good one to watch with that special someone. You can watch two trailers here.

Dracula 2000 (2000)

There is an interesting twist in this vampire movie. After some art thieves break into a room looking for loot, they are unpleasantly surprised. Watch the trailer here.
