Top 5 Video Games for Christmas 2010

Richard Banks
The holiday shopping season is approaching. Video games are a multimillion dollar business with developers and publishers hoping to get the most out of their respective titles. Listed are the top 5 must have videogames of the upcoming holiday season

Call of Duty: Black Ops - release November 9, 2010

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has become the top fist person shooter of all time. Where CDMW2 left off, Black Ops picks up. Black Ops will lead you into a world of secret missions and excellent multiplayer gaming in which the franchise is known. Black Ops will also give you the ability to control vehicles unlike other installments. Now the controls on the vehicles are not the selling point, but a much needed addition. So are you up for the task of
being a Black Op?

Medal of Honor -release October 12, 2010

Mix a little bit of the Call of Duty franchise and sprinkle in Battlefield, stir together and you have Medal of Honor. What will entice you to purchase this first person shooter is a massive 24-player online multiplayer. You will see the fluidity of Call of Duty as you traverse through various maps. The downfall is a solid single person campaign. Aside from single person campaign, Medal of Honor will have you ranked a Tier 1 Special Forces expert in no time.

Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood - release November 16, 2010

Enzio is now a master assassin. He has exterminated some of the most well known historical figures and traveled sweeping landscapes. Now he has moved to Rome during the Renaissance with his band of brother to achieve more in the craft of assassination. Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood adds a deep multiplayer mode, unlike the first two installments. You will have the ability to choose different assassins to complete tasks.

Halo: Reach - release September 14, 2010

The team at Bungie is at it again with the newest arrival in the Halo series. Halo has been a sales leader for Xbox 360 for nearly a decade and has now plans of diminishing. With the latest installment, Halo: Reach brings to the table an impressive 16-player multiplayer format as well as fighting off of the ground. Lovers of Halo conjure up images of ground death matches, not aerial assaults. Another plus is your personal game setting now will transfer over to your Xbox Live account. Your popularity will soon be on the rise. Microsoft has definitely brought one down from the heavens with Halo: Reach.

Rock Band 3- release fall 2010

Drums, microphone, real life guitar, plus a keyboard. Rock band 3 has upped the ante on social gaming with the upcoming release of RB3.On top of new instrumentation, all of the song library from previous Rock Band titles are reverse compatible, minus Beatles Rock Band and select Rock Band 1 songs. Along with reverse compatibility, RB3 will add an additional 83 songs to include classic such as Jailhouse Rock by Elvis Presley to modern chart toppers Muse and Kings of Leon. Rock Band 3 isn't attempting to reinvent the wheel, just simply upgrading an almost deflated platform.

Video games are now an integral part of our dynamic and our culture. These five games are just a taste of what's to come. Write them down, set a reminder, and save the date. These titles will not be on store shelves long.

Hey... Where's LittleBigPlanet 2? Who cares about everything else!

  • Ezio's brother 8/30/2010

I'm sure his name is Ezio.

  • Silverware 8/25/2010

Serious? RB3? its another music game that they just do another addon instead of paying for a new game. Fail. Fable 3 should be great, but with the release issues they had with #2 I'm wondering if it will make it. How about Spiderman: Shattered dimentions or StarWars: Force Unleashed 2? As for WoW, unless your unemployed or work parttime I dont see it as a must have. Life>WoW - sorry WoW fans

What? No World Of Warcraft Cataclysm? That will sell millions of copies in it's first night alone, no doubt.

Seriously? OK first of all Red Dead is a shooter, just third person and it came out more than 6 weeks ago. Second, if CoD went downhill after MW2 then how is it that its the best selling FPS to date? Third, you're just saying that they don't have a plot because they are known best for their online gameplay and not single player.
