Top 5 Ways to Stay Fit

Easy Ways to Fit Exercise into Your Schedule

Birdie Grace
Staying fit with today's busy schedules can be difficult. Who has time to go to the gym when you have a job, kids, and a spouse to attend to? Here are some easy everyday things you can do to get just a little bit of exercise into your busy schedule.

Public Transportation
That's right. Public transportation. Buses, subways, and metro trains rarely drop you off right at the doorstep of your destination. You'll just have to walk. Not only will you be saving money on gas, car maintenance and insurance, but you'll be fitting in a little more excercise walking to and from the bus stop.

Grocery Shopping
Park as far away as possible. Walking to and from the store will definitely fit more excerise into your daily schedule. Up your fitness score if you opt to carry the groceries to the car instead of using a cart. Carrying extra weight will definitely help. Depending on how often you visit the grocery store this could really help you.

Housework
Cleaning can definitely cause you to work up a sweat. Handwash dishes and save soap and water. Vacuum the entire house. Dust regularly. Spend time everyday making sure you're staying organized. Fold laundry standing up. Anything that keeps you moving helps and burns calories.

Play
Play with your pets or your kids. Both can be incredibly energetic and can get you moving. Walk the dog or play with your kitten. Play catch or tag with your kids. If you have a younger dog, playing fetch can really get you moving by chasing and trying to get the ball or frisbee from him. If you have multiple dogs walk them individually. That's twice the excercise.

Walk
Just walk more. Use the stairs instead of the elevator. If you're going to watch t.v. watch it while you're on the treadmill. In fact, you can do just about any kind of exercise while you're watching television. My favorite t.v. time exercise is jumping on the my mini-trampoline. You get the entertainment of television, one of the great enjoyments of childhood, and exercise all in one.

Your goal should simply be to become more active. Being more active doesn't have to mean spending hours at the gym. It simply means moving more often and more vigourously. It can definitely be enjoyable. I have never met anyone who didn't enjoy playing with their dog or their kids. If you can find things that you can enjoy doing, you'll be able to stay fit and healthy.
