Top 5 Websites for Summer Travel Deals

Sophia S. Mark
For the most part travel websites return the same search details when you are trying to plan out the summer vacation of your dreams. There are those few websites though that go above and beyond to bring you the very best deals everyday, including publishing Top 20 newsletters and allowing travelers to gush about the bargains they have found on their travels.

Here are the top five websites that I use to find summer travel deals because of the bargains they manage to pull together every week.

Hotwire Travel Ticker
Some of the best last minute travel packages can be found on Hotwire, but you never know what is going to become available so it is best to visit this website if you don't have your heart set on a summer travel destination yet. Everything from cruises, hotel and flight packages to weekend getaways are available for booking and almost all of it is last minute. If you have been thinking about heading to a specific city, but are just waiting for the right time to book a trip it is a good idea to sign up for the weekly newsletters so that you can watch for that destination to pop up. www.travel-ticker.com

TravelZoo
TravelZoo is another website that puts together an awesome newsletter of vacation deals for last minute and under booked destinations. I like the deals you find on this newsletter because a lot of the deals come straight from the hotel chains and resorts to the website, and many very reputable resorts offer incredible deals for their openings that you are not going to see again. In addition to the Top 20 lists that the website send out there are also top deals for the day listed on the website ranging from anywhere between 40 and 75 percent off for a particular flight, cruise or hotel package so you are guaranteed to find something within your summer travel budget. www.travelzoo.com

Priceline
Priceline is one of the most trusted travel websites on the internet, mainly because they have been around since the beginning and also because of the do it yourself style that is offered on the site. Like other sites Priceline will pull up the travel deals that are available for the destination you want, but they also offer the famous Name Your Price Option. If you have never used the feature before you can place a bid on the amount you want to pay for a particular flight and if an airline accepts the bid that is all you pay. I have been able to save as much as sixty percent off my flights using this feature and have only had a bid turned down once in the last seven years. www.priceline.com

IGoUGo
IGoUGo isn't a site that is dedicated to travel deals, but it is dedicated to good travel and grows because of the travel deals that its users share. I have been able to find more travel deals on this website for summer destinations than most of the other sites combined. The best travel deals are not always just found in the price and you are not always going to find the best bargain on many of the discount websites out there. Take some time to browse through the posts and get an idea of what you want to see and do based on your budget, you will be surprised to see what pops up which you can then book yourself. When you are ready to search for a flight there is a search tool on the page that lets you compare all the travel deal websites at once. www.igougo.com

Sherman's Travel
Sherman's Travel publishes a free weekly newsletter full of the best travel deals they find and when you are stuck for summer travel ideas they come up with more than you can on your own. In most instances the travel deals that are published on this site are complete itineraries so everything from the flight to daily activities are included. You can trim down the trips if you want or combine two or more trips to make the trip of your dreams. At forty to sixty percent off, there is a lot of travel to buy here. www.shermanstravel.com

I've used Priceline. It's a good website to look into when booking flights, and taking care of other travel plans.
