With so many different yoga mats on the market today, it can be difficult to find the perfect mat for you. If you're inexperienced, you probably don't want to spend a lot of money on a mat until you're sure that yoga is for you. You may be surprised that there are several cheap and inexpensive mat options available to you, all of which offer quality and safety. Read on to find what I consider the best yoga mats available for under $25.00.

Gaiam Yoga Essentials Mat

Gaiam is one of the top names in yoga so it should come as no surprise that their yoga mats made this list. Popular with students and teachers alike, their Yoga Essentials mat offers quality at a budget price. The mat has a light-tack non-slip surface to ensure safety. Measuring 68"L x 24" W x 1/8"D, it comes in several colors and one pattern. The mat is latex-free, making it the ideal mat for those with latex allergies. You can purchase one of these inexpensive yoga mats at gaiam.com, as well as a number of other stores that carry fitness products.

Jade Yoga Harmony Kids Mat

If you're looking for an eco-friendly option for your little yogis, you can't go wrong with Jade Yoga's Harmony Kids Mat. The mat is 1/8" thick and available in 2 lengths-48' and 58". This yoga mat is available in six colors so you're sure to find your child's favorite. As an added bonus, Jade Yoga plants a tree for every mat they sell. Powerhouse Eco Exercise Mat

An eco-friendly and budget friendly option, the Powerhouse Eco Exercise Mat contains no PVC or phthalates. It measures 72"L x 24"W x 3/8"D, making it a great mat for taller people or ones that need a little more cushion. The mat is packaged and shipped in recycled packaging and a tree is planted for each mat sold. You can find this inexpensive mat at a number of fitness equipment stores.

Yoga Accessories Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat

For those that prefer a thicker yoga mat that doesn't compromise safety, I highly recommend the Yoga Accessories Extra Thick Deluxe Yoga Mat. At ΒΌ" thick, this is one of the thicker mats on the market. It measures 72"L x 24"W. With twenty colors to choose from, you're sure to find one you love. It is latex free. I have to admit I was surprised to find that a cheap yoga mat could be a comfortable one as well. Purchase one yourself at yogaaccessories.com.

Yoga Site Travel Yoga Mat

If you do a lot of traveling, you'll definitely want Yoga Site's Travel Yoga Mat. At 3/32" thick and just over a pound, this great mat can easily be folded or rolled to fit in your luggage. It's sticky to assure your safety. Like the other mats, it is latex free so it's safe for those with latex allergies. Pick up one at yogasite.com.

  • What about G2?6/25/2009

They are actually not under $25, but they are pretty cool. I got one as a gift for Mother's Day and they're pretty neat. There are pictures on the mat that help guide you through your routine. I believe mine is the Back Stretch mat. Feel free to use my coupon code if anyone wants it (TLG2DEAL). You can use it on their G2fit website.
