American Idol has accounted for a lot of great musical talent over the years. In 2009 those who won the show and those who did not win still continued to dominate the radio charts. With this article I will share with you my Top 6 2009 American Idol Songs.

6) Kris Allen Live Like were Dying - This is Kris Allen's first single from his self titled debut album. Kris Allen won Season 8 of American Idol. The song was released on September 21, 2009. I love Kris Allen's voice and this song is just a fun song. It also reminds us that we should live each day as if it were our last. If we all did that I am sure we would make more of each day that we had.

5) Kelly Clarkson Already Gone - This is Clarkson's third release from her 2009 album "All I Ever Wanted." This is definitely a power ballad song. It is about the breakup of a relationship, something that we can relate to. Clarkson was the winner of the first season of American Idol.

4) Kellie Pickler Didn't You Know How Much I love You - This song was Pickler's third single from her debut album "Small Town Girl." Pickler's voice and the way she delivers a song grab my attention every time. It is a song about breaking up and wondering if they knew how much that you loved them, another song that we can all relate to. Kellie Pickler was on American Idol season 5 and came in 6th place.

3) Carrie Underwood Temporary Home - This is the second single from Underwood's third album "Play On." The song was released December 14, 2009. I love Carrie's voice. She is very talented and continues to top the Country charts. This song is about having a temporary home. It starts with a little boy who goes fromhome to home and he tells people its his temporary home, its not where he is meant to be, then a woman and her child who are staying at shelter and she tells her child the same thing, it then goes a man in a hospital telling those he loves that he will see them later that here on earth is just his temporary home. That is true for each of us. The here and now is just our temporary home. Carrie Underwood was the winner of American Idol Season 4.

2) Bucky Covington I Want My Life Back - This song was released April 2009 it is the first single off of Bucky Covington's second CD "I'm Alright" that is due to be released fall of 2010. The song is about a man who was laid off and lost more than just his job and how he wants the life he once had back. This song is a very touching song and in today's uncertain economy it is even more relevant to people than it may have been a few years back. Covington delivers this song with great emotion and his voice is strong and brings you right into to visualize the song as he sings. Bucky Covington was on Season 5 of American Idol and came in 8th place.

1) Taylor Hicks What's Right is Right - This song was released to Adult Contemporary radio adds on January 27, 2009. It is the first single off of Hicks second album "The Distance." This song is about a true love and being there for them. If something is wrong with them you are there for them in their times of need as well as in the good times. We all crave to have a love that stays through the good and bad times always there to love us, smile with us and cry with us and that is exactly what this song is about. Taylor Hicks delivers this song with lots of emotion and soul. Hicks was the winner of American idol Season 5.
