Top 7 Funniest Celebrities on Twitter

Being funny on TV does not always mean you'll share the same friendly banter on Twitter. For instance, comedian (and actor-writer-host-geek) Stephen Fry never fails to impress on the TV show QI and other shows, but his Twitter couldn't be further from hilarity. Some even describe it as "boring, uninteresting banter." That usually translates to "not particularly funny," or, better yet, "this is about as interesting as a bowl of Weetabix."

But these twitters are sure to tickle your funny bone. Use this list, appropriately titled "Top 7 Funniest Celebrities on Twitter," for a gentle heaping of funniness to go around.

Top 7 Funniest Celebrities on Twitter

Jim Gaffigan (@jimgaffigan): Best known as the stand up comedian who put Conan O'Brien's paleness to shame in the short-lived animated series Pale Force. His tweets, like his stand-up routine, are focused on food, being pale and the oddities of his day-to-day life. And if the Huffington Post thinks he's funny, he must be, right?

Funny celebrities he follows: Conan O'Brien (also mentioned in this list), Michael Ian Black and Rainn Wilson, to name a few.

Conan O'Brien (@ConanOBrien): He only joined Twitter in late February 2010, but the former Tonight Show host is already sensationalizing the funny bones of fellow "Cone Bone" enthusiasts on Twitter. Best tweet: "This morning I watched Remington Steele while eating Sugar Smacks out of a salad bowl. I was naked."

Funny celebrities he follows: None-in fact, he doesn't follow anybody!

Shaquille O'Neal (@THE_REAL_SHAQ): Shaq is on Twitter. That's all you really need to know.

Funny celebrities he follows: None, but he is following a twitter about a girl's magazine.

Rachel Maddow (@maddow): Aside from Keith Olbermann, Maddow is best known as one of the most intriguing-and funniest-political commentators on MSNBC. Her tweets? A definite chuckle, even if you're not a hardcore lefty.

Funny celebrities she follows: John Cleese, and for an ironic twist, Meghan McCain.

Brent Spiner (@BrentSpiner): One of the first celebrities to use Twitter, the former Star Trek star mainly uses his Twitter today to communicate with his fans, oftentimes poking fun at himself. Take this classic response to a fan's tweet: "RT @ilRadd: One of my fav TNG eps was The Most Toys with @saulrubinek - any interesting memories working together?--None whatsoever."

Funny celebrities he follows: None, unless you find Levar Burton particularly hilarious.

Tobias Funke (@drtobiasfunke): Sure, he may be a fictional character, but finding new ways to fit sexual innuendos into sentences never gets old. And for Arrested Development fans, Dr. Tobias Funke is about as real as Jared Allen's mullet-just ask the 7,000 fans following his Twitter.

Funny celebrities he follows: Conan O'Brien and a smattering of other "real" celebrity twitters.

Craig Ferguson (@CraigyFerg): Most Americans remember him as the host of The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson, but British fans know his comedic roots go way, way back. He's genuinely funny. Classic tweet: "I follow no one. Except Dave I suppose. Or the local news. Or the smell of ham."

Funny celebrities he follows: Eddie Izzard, Bob Saget and, of course, Stephen Fry.
