Top 7 Historically Inaccurate War Games

C.B. Jones
As a very observant human being, I've noticed more than a few strange occurrences in pop culture. None more shocking and weird than in a few of my favorite video games.

Strikers 1945.
Insane size differences in planes are not that big a deal. I'm even willing to look past the multicolored bullets that look like ice sickles. What I cannot get past is the large gold bricks that appear when destroying houses in mission four. This sends a bad message to kids everywhere. They will grow up thinking riches can be found by flying an RC plane armed with pellets over my house and someone using it to blow off my roof..

Operation Darkness.
World War 2 with Zombie Nazis and Werewolves. There are even a few Vampires thrown in for no good reason. With the continuous flood of WW2 games, This would have been a welcome change from the norm. That is until you realize a better change would be less WW2 video games. -_-'

Gears of War.
From what I can tell, this game is set in the industrial revolutionary time line. A time where everything was dirty, grungy, and the entire countryside was infested by mutant locusts. My guess is that the chainsaw gun was more of a hassle than portrayed in Gears. It didn't look that efficient. You probably had to refuel every six seconds or so.

Contra.
War is hell. The folks at Konami took the phrase literally when making the classic Contra series. The later level's enemies in the NES version have a sort of "what the %$@# is THAT supposed to be?" quality to them. One of the bosses resembles a big red demonic...candle, for lack of a more kid friendly object to reference.

Custer's Revenge.
Note: "Top 7 Historically Inaccurate War Video Games" does not mean the best historically inaccurate war video games. I don't know much about George Armstrong Custer, but I'm sure hooking up with nude, big breasted Indian ladies was not a top priority in the heat of battle. Wait, didn't he end up dying in the Battle of Little Bighorn? I'm not a history major, but maybe the game is accurate...Probably not.

Meta Slug 3.
Metal slug has everything going for it: a unique 2D art style that has aged a lot better than most 2D games, fast paced action, and aliens. The problem is these aliens have been portrayed as the enemy in most MS games. Just in case there is an invasion in the near future, I would like to state my unwavering support for our tentacle sporting overlords. Don't probe me or my friends, and I won't have to do anything drastic....

GTA: SA.
The Grand Theft Auto series has come a long way. It started out as a top down mission based action game. It has turned into a three dimensional, mission based action game, with tanks! You can spawn a tank out of thin air. You don't hear about gang wars erupting into a tank spamming competition on the nightly news. "Witnesses say police almost caught the perp, but a large armored vehicle fell from the sky and crushed their car, Leading to a miraculous getaway."

I totally support Custer's decision to hook up with nude, big breasted Indian ladies. I guess that makes me a lover and not a fighter.

Contra! And what about GTA? Dude, I know you have watched that police chase where buddy high jacked a tank and was running rough shod all over L.A. This happened in REAL LIFE!
