The Townhouse is considered an elegant establishment for the gay community. Proper attire is required as there is a dress code that must be adhered to in order to gain admission into this establishment. Although jackets are not required, most patrons frequent The Townhouse right after work hours so you will see many wearing suits and ties. Later in the evening it becomes a bit more casual, however respectable clothing only please. No sneakers, baseball caps, torn clothing, etc. I suggest visiting their website for a more detailed list of what is considered inappropriate dress. Live entertainment is nightly. Located in the West Village, Duplex has been in business for over 50 years. Not only is there a piano bar, where you, the patron, can enjoy singing, too, but there is also an upstairs. Here you will find another bar and a 70-seat off-Broadway Cabaret Theatre for more entertainment. The entire staff of the Duplex is part of the live entertainment.

All the Piano Bars listed above are easily accessible via subway, train, and taxi in New York. Some are even walking distance in MIdtown. Most bars close at 3 am and are open 7 days a week. If you are coming in from out of state, please check train and bus departure times out of the city as they do vary. Trains do however run later than buses.
