7. Phil Collins, lead singer of post-Peter Gabriel Genesis, starred in 1988's Buster. He was also in 1991's Hook, 1993's Frauds, and 1994's Calliope. He also lent his voice to 2003's The Jungle Book 2.
6. David Bowie, classic rocker of the 1960s, 70s and 80s, has appeared in more than 25 films. His most celebrated role was as Jareth the Goblin King in 1986's Labyrinth which also starred Jennifer Connelly.
5. Sting, frontman of The Police, was in 1984's Dune. He also starred in 1982's Brimstone and Treacle and 1985's Bride. Sting also lent his voice to 2007's Bee Movie which has an all-star cast including Jerry Seinfeld, Renee Zellweger, Oprah Winfrey, Chris Rock, Ray Liotta, and Matthew Broderick.
4. Anthony Kiedis, lead singer of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, appeared in several movie roles in the late 1980s and early 1990s. In 1994, Kiedis and Chili Pepper bass player Flea were in The Chase in 1994 with Charlie Sheen and Kristy Swanson. Kiedis also appeared in 1991's Point Break starring Patrick Swayze, Keanu Reeves, and Gary Busey. However, most people don't know that Kiedis was a child star, appearing in many commercials and after-school specials. At age 16, he appeared in F.I.S.T. with Sylvester Stallone.
3. Ice Cube, of the rap group N.W.A., has been in starring roles in many movies. He starred in 1991's Boyz n the Hood, the Friday trilogy, 1999's Three Kings alongside George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg, 2002's All About the Benjamins, 2005's xXx: State of the Union, and many others.
2. Tupac Shakur, one of the most successful rappers of all time, played roles in many urban -themed movies. He was in 1993's Poetic Justice alongside Janet Jackson, 1994's Above the Rim, 1996's Bullet, and others. Legend holds that Shakur also read for the part of Bubba in Forrest Gump.
1. Jared Leto, vocalist of 30 Seconds to Mars, is more established as an actor than a musician. He has played lead or supporting roles in such Hollywood blockbusters as Lord of War, Panic Room, Alexander, Requiem for a Dream, American Psycho, Fight Club, and Prefontaine. In 2006, Leto received an award for Breakthrough Crossover Artist given at the 6th Annual Hollywood Life Award.
