2. Pens- whether it be a pack of Bic pens or an elegant fountain pen engraved in 14 karat gold, writers love getting new pens. Cheap, plastic pens can be found at any office supply store. For the more expensive fountain pens, you will either need to find a store that offers them, or go online.
3. Box Sets- Most writers start out as readers before branching out into the world of writing. And to be a good writer, you have to read. Nothing makes a writer's day like a box set of their favorite book series. There are box sets available for every popular book series out there. As an extra, instead of a cardboard box, try finding an engraved wooden box.
4. Digital Voice Recorder- For those times when pencil and paper isn't available to jot down ideas, a digital voice recorder is a handy tool. There are many types of recorders, each of them having different amounts of recording space. A pocket sized version is best for a traveling writer, although, most recorders easily fit inside a person's pocket. Most electronics stores have voice recorders readily available.
5. Magazine Subscription- All writers have a time in their career when it is hard to continue writing; this is called writer's block. A magazine subscription will give them ideas to help cure writer's block and keep them on the track to success. Writer's Digest is a favorite among aspiring artists. Any interesting or inspirational magazines will do as a gift.
6. Reference Books- For times when their writing needs a little tune up, reference books such a s dictionaries do a great job. Meriam-Webster and the Oxford English dictionary are top picks. You can find this anywhere, including bookstores and office supply stores. There are packs of reference books available at many stores.
7. Laptop- although on the expensive side, many writers do their work online these days and a laptop will help write from anywhere with an internet connection. Make sure to know what type of laptop they like and which operating system is good with them.
8. Desk Accessories- Though it may not seem like it, writers love toys, posters, and anything else that they can customize their desk and office with. Anything such as play sets, inspirational posters and, framed one page books will do. You can find posters at any fine art store or online. One page books can be found at specialty stores online.
