Top 8 Pay-As-You-Go Cell Phones

Pay as you go cell phones are very convenient this day and age for several reasons. One of the biggest reasons is because people are tired of being caught in a contract, where if in default it cost them a huge chunk of money they didn't have to begin with. This way we the people can decide how much we pay, talk, and if we want to continue service or not. It's not always the cheaper way to go but most definitely the more convenient way to go.

One of the most well known pay-as-you-go cell phone companies out there is TracFone. TracFone has over 70,000 locations nationwide, three programs to choose, and over 7 airtime cards to choose. All of these options make Tracfone a top competitor in pay-as-you-go cell phone. Contact details: www.TracFone.com or 1-800-867-7183

The GoPhone brought to you by AT&T has a few good reasons of their own to use them versus a different competitor. One being for every$100 you spend you get a $20 bonus, and who couldn't use that. One of the biggest reasons to choose the GoPhone is the Rollover® Balance TM allows you to carry balance over month-to-month. The GoPhone also offer a refurb pack that comes with Nokia 2610 Refurb phone (Pay As You Go), $25 Airtime Card, Pay As You Go Only and you get all this for $25.00. Contact details: AT&T.

Coming up hard and fast from almost no where is T-Mobile now with pay-as-you-go cell phones. Same as with the GoPhone refurb pack, T-Mobile also offers a few prepaid starter phone kits such as the Nokia 1208 Prepaid - Black for only $29.95. With many options to choose and more affordable rates you can't go wrong. Contact details: T-Mobile.

Now here's a company making a name for itself Boost Mobile. Boost Mobile has a slight edge over a few of their competitors by offering something they don't. Their Walkie feature lets you pay just $1/day on the days you make or receive Walkie-Talkie calls. Now how nice is that, if you don't use it you don't lose it. Contact details: Boost Mobile.

Virgin Mobile has a nice selection of pay-as-you-go cell phones including their new Wildcard and for only $89.99. The Wildcard is a Messaging phone with a high-res Megapixel camera, Bluetooth® Wireless, Full Keyboard, and Mobile IM & Email. Wow, now that's a bargain. Virgin Mobile also has a few competitive rate plans to choose, starting with low 5¢ Minutes. Contact details: Virgin Mobile.

Cricket Wireless is not as well known in all areas as some of their top competitors, but should still be considered in the running. Cricket Wireless has a lot to bring to the table, for example they have over six plans to choose from $30 to $60, something to fit every ones budget. Their prices include a boat load of features, like for only $30 you get unlimited anytime minutes and caller ID. Not bad for just thirty-dollars. Contact details: Cricket Wireless.

Verizon Wireless just loves to give their phones away, always a good idea if you would rather spend your money on your minutes rather than your phone. For pay-as-you-go plan prices it really depends on your zip code. Verizon Wireless' rates are a little different than other companies, in fact I think it's pretty neat the way they have it set up. Here is an example: They have a daily access charge of either .99¢ $1.99 or $2.99, but if you don't use your phone that day you don't incur the daily access charge. No matter which daily access charge you pick, you still get Unlimited IN Calling (mobile to mobile). For a limited time on all online prepay orders, the activation fee will be waived. Contact details: Verizon Wireless.

Net 10 is working its way up the list to be a competitor. It still has a way to go, but is available at your local Wal-Mart. Their rates are pretty inline with the other pay-as-you-go cell phone companies. The rates are always 10¢ a minute nationwide, international calls are only 15¢ a minute, text messages are a low 5¢ a minute. Extra added bonus feature on the phone gives you an airtime display balance that shows your minutes and service end date. Contact details: Net 10

Looks like we're moving up in technology as far as phones go anyway; I remember when cell phones were as big as your home phone. And back then no one could afford to have one or use it for that matter. Well, kudos for man kind and cell phones.

I changed onto a prepaid Tracfone a while ago after reading this and must say, I'm impressed! Thanks for the info, I'm saving about $30 a month on my cell costs.
