1. Take your child to The Brooklyn Children's Museum to explore different aspects of life. They can learn about the diverse cultures around the world, arts, science, and even about the environment! Brooklyn Children's Museum offers daily workshops and activities for children to participate in. In addition to that, weekly multicultural performances are held on weekends. Admission is only $4 per person. Check their website or call them for information to find out when they're opened because times vary on different days.
2. The Children's Museum of the Arts is a great place to stop by with your children if they like art. The museum offers a lot of hands on activities for children while they tour the gallery. The museum is designed to look like an art studio. Children can create art while at the museum. Materials for sculpting and creating collages are provided. With so many different things to play with, your children may get creative and may want to stay for several hours! Admission is $5 per person. It's open on Wednesdays from 12pm-7 but on Thursdays-Sundays, they close at 5pm.
3. Stop by the five acre Central Park Zoo and Tisch Children's Zoo to watch polar bears swim underwater or to pet animals up close. The Central Park Zoo is involved in saving endangered species, so go check out all the rare animals! The zoo has a theater where people of all ages can learn more about the nature and the animals that live in our world. You can also learn about the animals when the staff gives tours or you can witness feedings if you arrive at the right time. Tisch Children's Zoo is located across from the Central Park Zoo. It's a petting zoo designed for little kids. The zoo is made up of farm animals such as pigs, cows, sheeps, and goats. You're allowed to feed the animals, which is tons of fun! Admission only costs $.50 for children under 12. Adult admission is $3.50. The zoo is open 365 days a year from 10am-4:30pm so don't forget to drop by!
4. The Brooklyn Aquarium is a facility dedicated to sea life conservation. It's popular for it's Beluga Whales, Dolphins, Sharks, and many more! It's a wonderful public attraction for people of all ages so make sure you spend at least an hour there. Find hours of operation and admission prices by calling them.
5. Don't forget to go to Central Park with your children! There are daily activities held for children such as craft workshops. And ocassionaly, there will be Meet the Author events where your child can meet a famous author and get a book signed by him or her. There's also an indoor climbing wall open for children from ages 8-17 on Sundays from 11am-1pm. Admission is only $5, so make sure you take your child to wall climb!
There are many other places where you can take your child and activities in which your child can get involved with. You just have to search around. In New York City, the sky is the limit!
