Top Albums of 2007

Here's my "Top 10 Albums of 2007." These aren't listed in any particular order - it's just 10 albums I really enjoyed this year. Music is very subjective, so, if you disagree, too bad. Make your own list.

1. Back to Black by Amy Winehouse - Probably my favorite new artist. Just great, soulful music. Who would've thought such a booming, ardent and impassioned voice could come from such a scrawny, drugged-out little lady?

2. Graduation by Kanye West - He's much-maligned and probably needs to shut his mouth a little more often, but the music is impeccable.

3. Magic by Bruce Springsteen - The Boss has still got it!

4. The Reminder by Feist - Besides the song from the iPod commercial (1234), this band has got a string of timeless, nicely arranged and satisfying songs. Plus, Leslie Feist's voice is beautiful.

5. Icky Thump by The White Stripes - Some loved this album, others hated it. I really enjoyed it. Jack White at his eccentric best.

6. In Rainbows by Radiohead - This was a great album simply for the fact that you could've got it for free. Raw, emotional, straightforward songs.

7. Year Zero by Nine Inch Nails - An acquired taste for sure, but nobody does what he does like Trent Reznor.

8. Libertad by Velvet Revolver - What rock music is all about. Take note, emo kids.

9. 8 Diagrams by Wu Tang Clan - Even without Ol' Dirty (rest in peace), the Clan proves that too many cooks don't always spoil the pot. Classic rap, nothing more, nothing less.

10. Kala by M.I.A. - The best female hip-hop artist out of Sri Lanka, well, ever. Great lyrics, nice flow.

Awesome list; some I have heard of but don't normally listen to; so I guess I need to check them out.

I am not a big White Stripes fan but I know my hubby likes them; or at least the lead singer and his eccentric style as you put it. :) I agree with your assessment of Amy Winehouse. How the heck does she get 'that' voice out of 'that' body. I can do without Kayne; although, you are correct; the music is great. I don't mind differing view; but when it is backed up by ignorance; I just can't see spending money on something that is going to benefit that ignorance. Still, great list!

Great list. I totally agree on your top two, and I loved Icky Thump too, but haven't listened to enough of, or any of some of the other albums you list so will give them a listen. I also liked The Shins "Wincing the Night Away" a lot.
